There are 5 warning passages in Hebrews that has encouraged poor theology. In Hebrews the issues all deal with physical death, not spiritual death. The Hebrews understood "saved" or "salvation" more times than not to refer to physical salvation/deliverance. If you look at the five warning passages, and look back in the OT to see their context, in all 5 warnings they are dealing with physical death. Those who take these warnings out of their context will think that the second generation author is warning believers not to lose their spiritual salvation. This is a false presupposition. The OT Jews thought more about physical death as a consequence to disobedience than they did about spiritual death.

Here is a splendid passage of scripture found in Heb 1

1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. The glory that God the Father has is exactly the same glory that Christ has. In fact, all the attributes of the Father has are all share with the Son. The degree of holiness that the Father has is the exact same holiness that Christ does, and that goes for all the attributes of deity. This is why the Trinity is made up of three Persons. In polytheism the gods are all different, some gods were born, some were of lesser power than other gods. But, there is no difference in how much the Father loves the World compared to how much the Son loves the world. They love infinite in degree, that is why there are Three Equal Members of the Trinity, Jesus prays in GJohn 17 for the believers to be "one" as Christ and his Father are one. The word for I and the Father are one. Not numerically, putting this crudely, the Father and the Son are two Members of the Godhead, which is composed of three total Members.

4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Verse 3 says that the Son is the radiance of God's glory. In the OT the Jews were surrounded by the Shechinah Cloud that radiated God's glory, this glory was none other than Christ. This is a reference to the Pre existence of Christ on earth.

I have been asked to write shorter posts so I will stop here.

Just a heads up. The OT conceived of salvation in terms of an earthly Canaan and material prosperity,
whereas the NT views these as signifying heaven and spiritual riches such as love and moral maturity.
Thus, it is wrong to interpret the NT in light of the OT. We should translate the OT to jibe with the NT context.

Amen Hebrews is a comparison between the two covenants in order to convert Hebrews to christianity from the law.

Please list the five passages, I would like to read them in their Biblical context. This might be a good topic for study over the next few months.

You really need to read the book of Hebrews, but look at post 5.
There are only 4 listed. I am quite familiar with Hebrews, I am interested in evaluating your statement in the context of the rest of the New Testament.

The book of Hebrews speaks about losing spiritual salvation. To make this any different is using eisegesis & becomes a false teacher.
Please be careful to not to teach such things, for you will be judged for them.
