Cool tip about boiling eggs with oil. Didn't know that.
Yeah I keep my onions in the fridge too. I never used to - my mum always kept them with the potatoes, but one day I saw an English friend put hers in the fridge and I laughed at her. She was saying the first thing she noticed in Australia was that a lot of things she used to keep in the pantry now go in the fridge (because it's hotter here) but that maybe she was just going overboard. But then I started doing it and it makes sense. They go off slower, and it dullens the acidity a little so it's not as hard on your eyes when yo slice them.
I've never tried it but I've also heard that if you keep bananas with slightly green oranged, the bananas with ripen the oranges, and the oranges will delay the browning of the bananas. But I tend to keep my bananas in the fridge anyway cos I can't afford many and I have to rashon them out for the fortnight and they would go brown too quickly.
I don't know any natural ways of removing smells but I know you can buy stuff in the cleaning aisle that's really good for that like Fabreeze and Milodour.
My folks always used to use vanilla to deodorize the fridge but now you can buy vanilla fridge wipe spray that does the same thing but cleans at the same time.
Oil to clean walls, really? Wouldn't that just stain the wall with oil?
Coke does the same thing to coins. If you leave a coin in a glass of coke overnight it comes out super shiny.
What do you mean about bay leaves for ants? How do you use them?
My mum used to stick a dried bay leaf inside the lid of the flour jar to keep weavles out. At least I think that's what it was. It always seemed like an old wives tale to me but I've never seen a jar with weavles in it when there was a bayleaf was there (and I have seen weavles in the jar at other times... but maybe the lid wasn't screwed on properly). I still do it now but sometimes I wonder if it's more like bordering on a superstition for me.

How do you clean the satin ribbon on a pair of shoes? I can't take it off, and can't toss 'em in the washer, cus they'll get destroyed.

hmmm... how did it get dirty wothout the rest getting dirty too?
try putting soap and hot water on something and rub the ribbon with it (perhaps put cling foil over the shoes first)

Yea, the rest of the shoe got dirty too. I managed to clean the shoe part, but not the ribbon. They're white shoes, btw.
Sorry my response is so untimely...I'm new around here. Put an open box of baking soda in the car (where it will not tip over) for a couple of weeks and the odor should be gone.

Here's a tip I thought was crazy until I tried it. Don't throw your sour milk out, put it on your houseplants. I'm not sure if all houseplants like the milk but the ones I have do.

Here's something I learned from Tammy's Recipes:
- to prevent potatoes from boiling over, add a thin layer of butter around the rim of the pot. =)
I appreciate the tip where it was mentioned not to keep onions and potatoes near each other.
