So my car broke down on the way to the cinema. For those who have knowledge on cars (I do not!), the sub-frame snapped and the body of the car collapsed onto the tyre. This then destroyed the clutch, leading to the recovery man to call time of death on my little motor. This in itself might be considered bad news.

But it's what happened in the lead up to this incident that really got me thinking. The road I would normally take was closed. So I took another route which was also closed (coincedence?). As I was turning around a quiet roundabout to go back the way I had came, it was here that my car broke down.

At first I was annoyed at the situation, my car sitting dead in the water with the strong stench of burning rubber/oil. But I soon had the realisation that had I gone the usual route, the car would likely have collapsed while I was hurtling down the motorway at a much faster speed.

My annoyance quickly turned into gratefulness. I knew that God had safely guided me out of harms way.

When bad things happen, which they will, we don't know how bad it could have been had God not been there for us.

Yes! I suffered two punctures in a week. I knew my tyres were well worn, but I could not afford to replace them. I happened to mention to my boss because I was late for work. He told me that the company was owned by Dunlop. I could get the tyres replaced at a good discount and pay them off without interest.

A few days after the tyres were replaced, I was on my way to work past a farm. A truck with a very large trailer pulled out in front of me. The road was too narrow to go around so I slammed on the brakes. One wheel locked up and flat spotted the tyre. I knew that if I had the old tyres, there is no way that I would have stopped. So those flat tyres that were an inconvenient saved me. It was before airbags and such.
