Job 34
Elihu is condemning job for his words that he recently spoke
no doubt he is talking highly about God...but again its his own understanding
But even if God is silent, nobody can complain. Nobody can force God to act. v30 So he may appoint a wicked man to rule a nation, although that man is cruel to the people.
sometimes i wonder looking at the present situation ...goverment ,at work place...complain how wicked ppl, may be because we should trust him more and let the spirit of God work in us
in Job's case i think Elihu wants him confess his sins than justifying , so he made this comment ..and that he should let God be God and not tell him what to do.
Elihu definitely condemns Job for his words and lack of wisdom, and he defends God and how just He is. It's something important for us to realize - that whatever is happening, we can have sure that God is just and does what's right. Every good thing is from God and every bad thing is either from the devil or from us reaping what we sow.
Oh, and I think verse 30 is saying that God doesn't let hypocrites/godless men rule. His favor isn't with them. It reminds me of one example when Saul was appointed king but did not listen to what God had commanded and his reign was cut short (1 Samuel 13:13-14). Or how God stopped Nebuchadnezzar and his son Belshazzar (had to look up their name spellings lol) from reigning because of their wickedness (Daniel 4 and 5). Even though wicked men may get to the point of ruling, God surely won't be with them and their reign will be cut. God can't be mocked. I don't know what to think about our current leaders, but surely when they don't obey God and follow His Word, God's favor isn't with them.
I think you're right - Elihu wants Job to confess his sins rather than justify himself. Plus he says to his sin he adds rebellion (verse 37).
