OK.. so I just wondered if cursing really is bad. I mean the ten commandments don't say that you can't curse right?

Jesus made all of the commandments and laws of the OT invalid. So even if there was a commandment that said "Though shalt not curse", you wouldn't be specifically obligated to oblige to it as a Christian (unless it was specifically in the NT).
But should it matter what Jesus said about it? Cursing makes you sound immature and unprofessional. It is also a very defective and profane way of communicating. If you think about it, the worst curse words have to do with often with bodily functions, parts, and wastes. Why would even need to use these words in common conversation?

I think that sums it up quite nicely. I don't deserve any credit for looking these up, though. I just copy-pasted off'm Google.
My personal view on the matter is that the words themselves aren't really wrong in themselves. It's how you use them. Like, for instance... "Flak you ya' blit."(I'm sure you could imagine where to place which words) is among the most harsh and negative things you can say to a person. It's not supposed to be in a Christian's character to say such things, which is probably why we're not supposed to say them.

I respect your views on the old testament, but I felt it necessary to voice my disagreement.
By saying that all of the old laws are invalidated, then it's alright to cheat on one's spouse. It's okay to murder someone. It's totally cool to lie and steal. This doesn't sound like something the God that I believe in would approve of.
When Jesus came, he didn't come to abolish the law, he came to fulfill it so that we could be forgiven of it. A sin's still a sin, but in Christ we're set free from the bondage of it. The only thing to my knowledge that Jesus changed were a bunch of the Leviticusl laws, mostly regarding what one should and should not eat and the strictness of HAVING to do nothing one day a week.
Here's an extra scripture to ponder.
Matthew 22: 34-40
"34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”"
This indicates to me that Jesus approved of the ten commandments.
But, I could be trippin'. You're entitled to think how you wish. That's the glory of free-choice.

If you're cursing in the name of the lord you shouldn't. There is a commandment about it.
However as for swearing, like the F & S word, it can be a good thing. Swearing is built into us and is natural. There have always been and always will be tabooed words. People with Tourettes (not always) cannot control when or what they say all the time. So they will randomly curse out loud. This is not because they are rude people but because swearing is built as a coping mechanism in the brain. So if you're angry or something gets you really annoyed then you feel that you want to swear and that's fine. That is one way your body tries to blow off steam.
However you have to be careful how you use these words. They add emphasis to statements and can really carry a point across however that can mean they really hurt if you called someone else a curse word. That is something you should avoid doing, even if you are really very angry at the person.
The whole point of having words which are tabooed is that they are tabooed you shouldn't abuse those words, as the more you use them, the more they lose their strength and meaning. You hear someone who swears on every other sentence and you don't respect that at all. You hear someone, who is very clean with their language, swear and your mind is blown.
I believe cursing can be a good thing and is natural however you shouldn't abuse them.

i dont think we should curse since it takes away from our language and reduces our vocabulary, plus its not very good and Jesus wouldn't approve and neither would God, even if it is a natural tendency, they can also make you come off sort of as offense or vulgar and remove the innocence of godliness!!! Plus we can use better words, but i am sure cursing is not just limited to regular swear words.

Hmm.. so if its natural to us its not a sin? So, its not a sin for me to sleep with every pretty girl i can get in bed? Because thats natural for me. Some people have it built into them to be alcoholics. Guess thats ok too. Really, all sins are built into us by our SINFUL NATURE, so then there really is no sin at all according to your logic. Sweet, so we can bypass this whole Jesus died for our sins issue, because sin is natural and therefore not bad.

We are the children of God and represent Him. How are we to be a good example if we do the same thing as an unsaved person would? And another thing we should consider is, does God approve of that language? I know they are times when we get so frustrated the words sometimes slip out but we should try to keep our language as clean as possible since we are God's children. Jesus died to cleanse us from sin. Yes, we're human and make mistakes but that why Jesus died for us. To not only set us free but to help us when we need it.

LOL. Piss back in King James' time wasn't a bad word, society may look down on it and all, but society isn't always right.LOL
to be honest, swearing is a sin in my opinion. words like F, S, C, B and others are not Godly words. before i was a Christian, i swore a lot. i have accidentally swore twice IN church. one of the words i didn't know was a cuss word. the other time the S word slipped out (OMG slipped out after i realised that i had swore, while i was apologising). there is still the odd occasion where i swear, but only when i am very peeved off. example; the day AFTER i became a Christian (i was previously Agnostic), another boy attempted to stab me in school (for real). before i could retaliate, i was pulled away by a staff member (who is also a Christian), and the boy started giving me abuse. i lost it, shouted "do you wanna "f---ing" stab me then?" and struggled with two staff members (one had jumped up when i shouted phrase above) trying to get the boy. i know a Christian who swears at times. example; when you stub your toe on the couch or drop something heavy onto your foot. i also know two Catholics (one a friend, one my form tutor/PE teacher) that i have heard swearing (i know about three or four Catholics). i have heard my friend swear twice (i think). example; one of the Christians in our church invited people to spend a few hours in theirs along with watching a firework display in the nearby park (it was bonfire night). we had just been dropped off by my friend's mum (a Christian friend, not my Catholic friend's mum) and they (Catholic) was carrying a bag with two bottles of fizzy drinks (soda to Americans) and the bag split, causing the two bottles to hit the ground (obviously) and they said the s word. it scared them. with my PE teacher, example; a pupil starts having a problem, teacher tells them to stop, pupil tells teacher to 'f off'. teacher gives pupil a detention, pupil asks why. teacher says 'because your telling me to f off'. <----- i was in this situation a while ago while speaking to someone's dad. i was playing black ops zombies with a friend mine (online) and that someone is in the same pre-match lobby as us. we started playing and we didn't do very well (i'm not bad at zombies lol). he said on the mic to my friend 'your "s" you (says my friend's id name)' i sent him a CLEAN message, defending my friend, saying that he was rubbish (i did say that). i received a message from him a couple hours later, but it was his dad. he typed something like this; 'who do you think you are bullying my son? he has been crying all day because of you. try and bully me you punk.' (i was confused and concerned when i read this). i sent him a message back, containing what he said (i did type the swear word, but i put it in speech marks) and what i wanted to be done about it (an apology sent to my friend). they agreed to send the apology. as far as i know, in the way that the cuss word was used then is ok, but in any other context it is not.
