I wrote this song back in late 1981.

I sought the Lord as I suffered in pain
"Til my spirit was almost dead;
I cried to the Lord for healing in pain.
"Take my peace" was all that He said.

I sought the Lord from the darkness of night
Filled with loneliness, terror and dread.
I cried to the Lord for the end of the night.
"Take my light" was all that He said.

I sought the Lord when the trials of the world
Weighed my heart 'til it felt like lead.
I cried to the Lord to change His world.
"Take my love" was all the He said.

But if our dreams can reveal His message of truth
And if love can ride on the wind,
Then, where lies the soul that's forsaken its youth
When it sees there's no end to the sin?

I sought the Lord with my gravest pleas
Since the day I first raised my head.
I cried to the Lord for an answer to these.
Take them me, was all that he said.

great poem plenty of insight. I didn't quite follow the last line where it said 'take them me''. Did you mean ''take Me then'?

Double meaning. To solve the soul's problems at seeing the horror of unrepentant sin in the world, do two things: 1. (You) take Jesus to them ["Take them Me" was all He said]. and Y2. You take them yourself [I should go to them in His name, is all he said].
