I really and truly think I'm not doing enough to keep God's word in my life. I didn't get to go to church today because I was sick, and I haven't read my bible in a while. I just wish there was more I could do. I do pray, but is that enough to keep god in my life? I don't know....I just don't know. Any advice? :/
Thank you and God Bless.

SweetCaroline, Jesus told us what he want us to do. :) Pray, read scripture, obey your parents in The Lord, etc. One of the best things I know of is to pray to be filled with The Holy Spirit. It helped me so much. He is faithful to deliver.

We never do enough, we have to keep doing better and better, we are not expected to be perfect, but are expected to be as good as we can.

Schedule time to pray, schedule time to read your bible, maybe even set some time aside to do some praise and worship at home. And of course, when you're healthy enough, go to church as well and see what areas you can volunteer in at your church. Remember, serving God isn't always being on the front lines, they may ask you to come in once a week to vacuum or something minor like that even. But do it, just find a way to serve, no matter how minor.

Sick, well there are sermons on the radio and tv you can watch and learn from (as long as you are just a little selective). You can read your Bible and learn it better. You can pray for yourself, family, friends, acquaintances.

This happens a great deal to me because of my job and there really is no choice. So, I have taken up praying for my ex-girlfriend - or should I say against her chosen lifestyle. Not to get her back or that God will visit revenge upon her, but that she will wake up and see where she is, then return to Him! Today, I started researching on the web how to reach out to people whom are troubled as she is. Never know when God might call to mind that information.....

Yes, reading the Bible is a must :).

Another thing that helped me when I was your age was keeping a journal. Writing your thoughts down really helps you to see what's going on in your head :) .

Listening to worship music helps also.

It's also important to be careful about what you watch and listen to and read...and what activities you do for entertainment (how you spend leisure time)... choosing movies and music that do not offend God is a good idea :) .

God's grace is great. Remember he judges your heart well before He judges your actions. Take small steps and fight the self-condemnation. Fight the perfectionism. I have been a Christian for 14 yrs and it's still a struggle. I'm a recovering perfectionist and I just realized that in my pursuit of perfection I over structure my quiet times. My type A ness needs EVERYTHING to have a time and place. Then I realize I'm so structured there is no room for God to speak. The other end is complete loosey-goosed with no structure which is wrong also. We have to purpose to meet with God. But you know, in all these struggles the lord hasn't left me. He has always been faithful because he knows my heart is for Him.

awww..caroline. i just saw that you are only 13. that's like my little brother's age. ok. i understand where you are coming from. i felt the same way before. im glad that you have a desire to do more for Christ. thats the start. like everyone said before, pray. the bible says pray without ceasing. read his word( Hide it in your heart that you may not sin against Him) and be open. God sees the heart. He knows your desires. you want to do more? He wants to use you more. ask God to fill you with a passion to do His will. for our very lives are living sacrifices unto God, testimonies of the Living God.
