My husband has been showing symptoms of hypoglycemia he has never been tested he goes for tests next wednesday. He doesn't have diabetes(so far as we know), but he has a high metabolism and loves to be active. I was wondering if anyone here has Hypoglycemia and how you've handled it.
I won't lie, I'm scared. I want to help him the best I can. He's passed out twice since we got married in 2012 and he complains a lot about the other symptoms. I want to be prepared. Please help us.

Maybe he is a hyper insulin secreter which would lower the glucose....also does he go crazy with excersise b/c that stimulates further release of insulin. He sounds like he needs to get checked for pre-diabetes especially if he has passed out. They will make him do an oral glucose blood test where he fasts and then eats a meal and take blood sugar readings before (fasting) and after (meal) to see if his pancreas is secreting insulin like it is supposed to. You need to get him to a doctor asap.

Also keep these OTC glucose tabs always on hand wherever he goes so his blood sugar does not bottom out and he faints....he should have it with him at all times as a precaution till he gets to the doctor... if he feels dizzy or light headed he should immediately take one to boost his blood sugar....it is dangerous for diabetic patients because if the blood sugar gets too low they may never wake up again if they completely bottom out... please get your husband to the doctor so they can run tests...

Most likely he's probably borderline diabetic.. It's good that he's getting tested for it. Good luck. :)

He doesn't really "exercise" but he is a very active guy. He's a ramper at the airport here, so he's always physically active. Unloading the planes, loading the planes, fueling the planes, and moving mail and freight. He and the other rampers get that plane done in about 10-20 mins, so that is a short burst of over exertion. and then he can't sit still when there isn't a plane to handle. when he's at home, he's thinking about hunting and fishing and getting out there. (Which we can't do until we have a handgun. we live in bear country) I'm sure that, given the chance and the equipment, he would workout and, given the time and handgun, he'd start running again.

Thank you for recommending the glucose tablets. we will order those as soon as possible. Wednesday is his appointment, I'm praying it goes well. Please pray that he isn't diabetic. I've seen the complications of diabetes and they aren't nice. Also please pray that he doesn't have a tumor. I read that some tumors cause it.

I will keep him in prayer. That is a tough workload for short burst activity and may be aggravating the low blood sugar symptoms...I would also give him a graham cracker or peanut butter cracker package (the ones packaged in vending machines) and give it to him also as a backup incase he feels "low" so that he can eat it and get instant glucose (sugar) into the blood. Maybe he should eat it like 20 min before doing all that heavy exercise in his job and cut back on the exercise at home till he gets checked out. That way his blood sugar (amped by the pb crackers) will be high enough for his cells to work well under the extra stress of his job of lifting walking etc.) I had a person who was diabetic who had to do this before gym class (20-30min) to ensure his Blood sugar was high enough to exercise....it may be a temporary safe thing to do to prevent blackouts/fainting....

Thanks, Blue. I hope He isn't a diabetic, Diabetes is not at all pleasant.
Thank you to all who hope for the best for my hubby and pray for him.

Good but confusing news. He's clean. But now we have no clue what causes his symptoms. He is on a new diet maybe that will help. He hates it though and now we have to buy a kureg because he has to drink decaf coffee and doesn't like the flavors offered by the regular coffee grounds companies. -_-
I also found our new health care providers, they do naturopathic medicine. Hopefully they'll accept us as new patients.
All is well here. thank you again for praying for my husband. We really appreciate it.
