I just made my first batch of cold process soap! I am praying it turns out well. I have also made body/shampoo soap, conditioner, and detangler.

I found that you can come up with wonderful cosmetics that rival the very best of the best. I just gathered ingredients for a new batch of cream for my face, I created a formula before by listing ingredients from commercial ones that I knew were tops. Then I researched the properties of those ingredients, and followed what information there was about skin care on the net.

There has been some new research in skin care that is very interesting, especially in the field of anti-aging. There are certain oils you can buy that blend well with our natural oils so the skin absorbs them rather than just sitting on the skin.

Castor Oil has a property that allows it to get into pores to clean them. It is too heavy an oil to be used straight for cleansing, but when diluted half in half with an oil friendly to our skin, it will do a wonderful job of cleansing. This needs to be wiped off with very warm water, followed by a toner made with witch hazel and some apple cider vinegar to tone and neutralize.

This should be followed with an excellent moisturizer, and I think I prefer my own even if I could afford excellent ones. Here is a formula I used before I found other ingredients that they say are wonderful:
Jojoba Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
E Oil
Aloe Vera
Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is the best ingredient to give the cream moisture retaining properties, and only the best moisturizing creams have any in it.

I simply mix and use common sense for amounts of each. If a cream need thickening, I use beeswax. Vitamin E Oil is very important, and also very thick so a little goes a long ways. Aloe Vera makes a wonderful base and is very healing.

Yes those oils and organic aloe Vera gel work wonders on the skin and hair. Is the acid organic? I am going to have to look it up. A natural version of the acid is glycerin. It pulls moisture into the skin and hair. Glycerin is a byproduct of making detergent commercial soaps. The companies pull the glycerin from the soap so you have dry skin and need lotion...which they also sell. The natural process of soap making leaves the glycerin in the soap. Glycerin is also used in dynamite but in and of itself isn't explosive.

BTW I just unmolded my soap. You can already use it...I tried it out because the ph tested in the normal range. It leathers nicely! I am so happy and praising God for it working on the first go around! I am going to let the bars sit for a couple of weeks to harden more firmly. As they sit, they will become gentler.

Well I have perfected my shampoo recipe. Not as much oil and I got great lather without it stripping my hair. I only need to condition about once a week instead of daily. And it is so much cheaper in the long run to make your own soaps! It is a bit pricey to get started because of the equipment needed.

I made laundry soap and fabric softener. They work great without leaving heavy perfume scents behind. If you like the scents, you can add essential oils for fragrance. So awesome!
