What High school courses and such are you taking/planning on taking?

Like I might put mine on here later I still need to edit it lol

Here we have this thing called concentrations where like you have to go THROUGH a certain set of courses rather than getting credits from all intro classes and stuff.

Like I know it is
Honors- 54 Credits 4 Concentrations
Distinction-51 Credits- 3 Concentrations
Plain Ole Graduate- 48 Credits 2 Concentrations

But yeahness lol more to come. and you post about what Highschool is like for you and courses whatever you want lol.

The most important subject in high school (besides English) is math. You should plan to take calculus in high school. Don't be lazy. Start now. You can do it. Practice, practice, practice. Good luck.

Well I am not planning on Caculus but going up to the right below it which here is College Prep Math

Here I would have to take two math classes one year to take caculus as a senior lol

I would but I love band and choir and plan on being in them both all four years of high school.

ummmummm I never been in high school but I'm scared of lightning thow! :(

That's ok, if you get through pre-calculus in high school that's still pretty good. But make sure that you study hard in the math classes you do take and really master the material completely. Keep in mind that all of the math you learn before calculus will be the foundation for, and used constantly in, calculus and other higher-level math classes, when you do take them in college.

In my case we took beginning algebra in junior high (8th grade), so we were able to either test out of it, or take it in the summer between 8th and 9th grade, so that we could go right into geometry freshman year. Then was intermediate algebra sophomore year, precalculus junior year, and AP calculus senior year.

Well here I guess we have more algebra classes lol
Because i go into gemotry next year,
sophmore- Algebra II
Junior- Trigonomorty (Only one semester)
Senior- College Prep Math

Ok I've seen that sort of thing before where trigonometry is split off into its own subject. For me, trigonometry was introduced during intermediate algebra (algebra II), and then re-covered in more depth during precalculus (college algebra). (Although you get a little bit of introduction to trig in geometry before before any of these.)

In any case, with a good textbook and some initiative, you could easily learn everything you need to know on your own and move into calculus well before college. The stuff really isn't all that hard if you practice at it, and you'll find that many of the interesting subjects require a solid knowledge of math before you can really delve into them (such as physics). The more you learn and the earlier you learn it, the more opportunities will open up for you.

My favorite class in high school was English, I did not graduate from high school though, I need to get a math tutor, math is the only subject on the GED that I need to re-do.

uh math is hard but I liked math and I'm really good at it now....

I'm home schooled :D

Trust, you have hit on my Achilles heel of academics, math. I've always been a History, English, and Foreign Language kind of guy. In those three subjects I didn't even have to try to do good in it just all came naturally. Math was my constant struggle in High School I would spend hours on the math homework each night because I couldn't wrap my head around it, and I only made it to Algebra 2 my senior year. I guess I just don't think in a very math like way, but if you told me to write a ten page paper on the fall of the Roman Empire I could crank it out in two hours, and still have more I wanted to write about it if it wasn't for those dang word limits.

Working on my schedule lol to plan it we use I have a plan iowa and now we are starting to fill out our real ones lol.

Yes this is something I hear from people over and over. For the vast majority of people it's a hard subject, so it's good to keep it in perspective and realize that most people are in the same boat as you are.

It's true that math comes more easily to some people but I would stress the value of a continuing math education regardless of any special aptitude. I think even if the progress is slow and hard won it then it will still be entirely worthwhile. For example if it takes one person three months to learn trig, and it takes another person a year, they will both at least (hopefully) come out of it with an understanding of trigonometry, without which it would be impossible to study the many other subjects that use it frequently.

I am just taking one math class each year lol not two though. But that will still get me all the way to College Prep Math in Senior year since I already am taking algebra in 8th grade

I'm in grade 12 and all I have to say is, don't skip out on classes just becuase people say they are hard! Do as many classes as you can to keep doors open :)

I'll have to wholeheartedly agree with that last paragraph. I took Algebra 2 twice, not because I failed it the first time, but because i didn't think I had a good enough grasp on it after the first time I took it. Yeah, but like you said lots of people struggle with Math just like a lot of people struggle with English. We all have our weaknesses somewhere.
