Hi everyone my name is Deb and I'm from Langley Canada. I've been a medical social worker, multimedia artist, writer and work in background for TV and movies, with the odd acting role. I'm a big sci. fi. fan, love humour and travel whenever I can (in other words the air miles have built up enough to go exploring.)
I'm very involved in my church and volunteerism and encouraging others gives me joy. I believe at every stage of life you need dreams and goals. I think you need to feel free to reinvent yourself even if those dreams seem silly to others. I take others seriously and myself not at all. I believe that life either gives you great memories or excellent stories. I am grateful for the blessings in my life which I choose to overshadow the other stuff.
I go to a fairly small church so it is exciting to find this site and be able to talk to you all and read your opinions. Thanks for accepting me.
 
Hi Skittlepumpkin. I've been to Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Fiji, Florida, and Hawaii. The place I've spent the most time is Istanbul, probably about 7 month total. I stopped there for one day on a cruise with my mom and fell in love with the people, the culture and the history. I went back by myself for 3 weeks and made friends whom I will keep forever. I was fortunate enough to be invited back to exhibit as an artist with the Istanbul mosaic guild. That was amazing.
It was incredible exploring more of Turkey and realizing that a lot of our New Testament happened there. Paul, Saul of Tarsus, Tarsus is in Turkey. Ephesus,
Cappadocia, the 7 churches, it is all there. When I was there I felt so alive and so connected to my faith. Even the call to prayer was my personal reminder to take the time to be still and listen to God.
OK I am going on too long, sorry, but travel takes me out of myself, my presuppositions about life, and gives me new perspective and some killer great stories. :)

Parts are like the deepest darkest Peru, as Padding bear would say.

Other parts are a shining light.
 
Thanks so much Miri and to all for the welcome. I loved Paddington bear! Like any good trip there will be moments to take a photo or quote someone you meet, times to make a hasty retreat and hopefully make some new friends along the way. No matter what you are never the same after your adventure. :)
