Welcome from a one-generation removed from England (at least on my father's side) American. Feel free to jump into any discussion you find interesting.
Thank you! You should come back to England and see us sometime. Plenty of incredible and beautiful churches and cathedrals!

I would like to go there for a visit. I was going to accompany my grandfather there a few decades ago but his last sibling, a former lawn bowls champion, died before our planned trip, so he decided he was not going and since he was going to be my introduction to the relatives there I also canceled. The last relative in England I talked with, my father's last 2nd cousin, died in 2024

I’m new to the site and have recently been guided back to Jesus.
Looking to meet fellow believers for guidance, support and friendship as I (re)start my faith journey!
Based on your introductory post I would have to say that you have come to the right place. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

I visited last in 2016, just after Brexit. I was surprised, even shocked, by the number of mosques.
The UK is very multicultural with lots of different faiths but we’re still a Christian country. I’ve literally got at least 5 churches within walking distance distance from my house!

Sorry to hear that your travel plans were cut short and for the loss of your relatives (may they rest in peace with Jesus).
You should absolutely come and visit though the UK, we’ll be happy to have you!

I fear that Islam is undermining Christianity in the UK. King Charles seems more to be a defender of Islam than Christianity. My understanding is that 8 major cities are Muslim controlled, including, of course, London. I avoided London, mostly because I've been there a lot, but also because I've seen how Christians are harassed there.

I also see that there is something of a reaction against the creeping Islamisation of the UK. That is encouraging. I loved my time in the UK in 2016. The weather was perfect. People were fine. Some seemed shocked that Britain was leaving the EU. I'm 74 so I'll probably not go back. My wife does not travel well these days. I hope to hear of revival and a massive turning away from Islam to Christ.

I’m probably quite sheltered as I live in an area with lots of little villages where the church is still a central point and a key role in the community. I can still feel Jesus’ presence which is very reassuring! There is still hope for people in the UK to rediscover Christ

Does England Have the Best Food?

Hope you like ethnic jokes.
Some of my favorite are Canadian, but England is growing on me.
I posted a thread recently based on the video above. Thank you for the reminder that with all the crazy things in the world, British need some humor too.

BTW, even though I'm American, I speak and read English fluently. That's how much I think about you guys. 🤜💥🤛

Hi EnglishElm glad you are joining us, welcome to CC! Most of my favorite shows are from the UK and I hope they stop being too nice to sects who will want to take over. Anyway have a wonderful New Year, God bless you and your endeavors✨
