The CARM discussion boards get about 1000 posts every day. It is not possible for me to read them all. It is only natural that I will ignore posts. In fact, I ignore virtually all of them.
Sometimes someone will post something to me about a complaint, an issue, a question, or a challenge and then when I don't answer right away -- or never get to it -- I am accused of ignoring them, or of not being able to answer, or of being a coward, or something else.
This isn't the case. But I will admit that sometimes I simply am tired and don't have the energy to continue a debate. I have a family, a full time job, regular preaching engagements, research projects on CARM, 50 emails a day to answer, and a host of other odds-and-ends that life demands of us all.
The fact is, I'm only human and can't be everywhere at once.

I am skeptical about Matt Slick joining CC. Anyone could say they were Matt Slick... or did you confirm it was really him before you approved this thread? If it has not been confirmed, perhaps it ought to be

Obviously the only way to completely confirm identity would be to meet in person and check his ID (I'm not driving 15 hours to do that) but yes, I did check IP info to make sure it lined up with where CARM is based which is why I knew he doesn't live far from family of mine.
I thought he could maybe post something on his carm page confirming his membership here but that may be asking too much

I would like Matt to verify his identity somehow, partly because it would be highly inappropriate for someone to say it was him if it was in fact NOT him. I have a great deal of respect for Matt Slick, having been a member on his site for years (since around 2012?), though I have not been active there much at all since joining here almost five years ago. Carm was hacked a while back and their whole platform changed at some point which, from my perspective at least, made the site a lot less attractive than it had been before that. In other words, I find CC to be superior... certainly a better fit for me.
Carm does cater to a broader user base; while there, I spent the majority of my time in dialogue with atheists, agnostics, and secular humanists, who have a forum of their own. Before joining Carm, I had spent a period over four years talking to the same subset of people on myspace before it was sold and reclaimed for its original purpose, which was for musicians. Myspace deleted all the old forums
I sometimes make use of the material Matt Slick makes available on Carm for Christians to share while doing apologetics

I fully understand your concern, I will effort confirming his identity further (and of course take appropriate action if it doesn't play out). It is as simple as a phone call or e-mail since CARM does list contact info on their site.

I was somewhat skeptical myself that a well known christian apologist with a full time ministry would have the time (or inclination) to join a site such as ours which is why I had checked the IP info.

I downloaded and installed the chat app, but can't find it. I guess I do not understand how it works. Does it integrate into these forums or is a standalone program on my PC?
