This song may be a bit more personal for some than others. I don't expect everyone would agree with it. I like it because of my own experience. Evolution causes a crisis of faith in a lot of young teens and older teenagers. This happened to me. It plants a seed of doubt regarding existence and is successful in destroying a kids outlook on life. If kids being taught evolution in school buy into it, a lot of them lose their ability to discern right from wrong. If there is no God and if there s nothing to look forward to, then why does anything I do matter? It wouldn't. So the only option would become more involved with the "self" than with others. Do what you can to climb the evolutionary and social ladder. It doesn't matter who you step on on your way, because they are lesser creatures than you. This is exactly what modern day satanism teaches. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law." -aleister crowley, father of modern day satanism. This is their agenda, to push evolution and progress into higher beings through evolution, becoming gods ourselves.Seems a tad harsh. I could easily tell my child, if I had one, that I didn't believe your Gods. And I consider myself pretty happy. This songs make non-religious people sound so awful.
In fact, evolution should be categorized as a religious doctrine and not be allowed in schools. If they are allowed to teach evolution, which blatantly destroys religious belief, then other religions should also be taught in schools for for a child's conscious comparison.
Evolution is NOT a religious belief, its a scientific theory that makes no statement on religious doctrine. There are millions of religious people, Christian and otherwise who find no fault with it. One does not reject the theory of gravity just because you want to be able to fly. A theory in science isn't just a guess, but a time tested, proven concept that has been developed, attacked, destroyed, rebuilt, added to and deleted from for years. It represents the full body of our current knowledge that we have on a subject, and evolution is one of the most well studied theories in all of science.
Even ignoring all of that, I dont see why you wouldn't want to have evolution as part of their belief system. Its...beautiful. The slow, creeping march to complexity and specialization is just so simple, so beautiful that it just reeks of the divine. I think its kind of insulting to god to think that he would just come and make all life all at once, only to try and trick us into believe its older or something.
I know you have your own deeply held belief and I probably won't change your mind as in regards to evolution, but I just wanted to put it out there that evolution is not mutually exclusive with christianity or any other religion. Its a beautiful, simple way of viewing the origin of life, and if you do believe in God, its a very elegant way for him to do it.
Advocating survival of the fittest in itself breeds a sinful attitude. It tells kids they can do what they want because only the strong survive contrary to what Jesus teaches us that the meek are the victors, not the strong.
Matthew 5 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
