Christ was made a sin offering, not sin. It's not possible that Christ could become sin because 1) sin is not a substance and 2) he was without sin. The reason sin appears in some translations is because there is no separate word for sin offering in either the Greek or Hebrew texts. Instead the word for sin is used with a preceding preposition such as concerning, or for.
