God is Love

If he was to base it on my looks
I am nowhere on the prettiest list
In my insecurities I raise it to him
That I don’t look pretty enough
He tells me that I look just like him
And that I am fearfully and wonderfully made
And he loves me still

If he was to check my prosperity
I am nowhere near the Forbes list
But if I raised it to him that I am among the poorest
He tells me silver and gold are his
He will give them to me if I just ask
And above all I have stored wealth at home
My heavenly home that silver and gold could never match

If he was to base it on my intelligence
I can’t match the IQs of them great men
As usual I tell it to him in resignation
He says child I knew you would say that
That’s why I told you to ask for wisdom if you lack it
See what I gave to Solomon and he didn’t even have to ask

I am content now; I am a child of the King
I can’t and won’t lack anything
You love me not for what and who I am but for who you are
And you have made me perfect, perfect for your love
Teach me Lord to love like you do
Then and only then I will have loved
