I am 19 years old and looking for a church. I attended a Pentecostal church for a few months over a year ago. I liked most of the teachings (Baptism in Jesus' name, I believe in receiving the Holy Ghost) but I do not believe I should have to wear skirts, no jewelry, tattoos, and makeup. What kind of church would let me practice those beliefs but still be able to wear respectful clothing?

Also, finding a church is becoming hard for me because I am afraid of what my parents will think.
I could really use some support and advice.

i experienced that.. but before anything, do you have a home church? if not.. and for the meantime, we should pray for that first.. i'll help you pray for that.. let' ait for God's guidance and way wherever He will lead you.. and can you please explain your thread further? it's kind of hard to understand for me..

Umm... i believe thats the whole point of the post, she's looking for a home church.


To OP, can't help you, i quit Charismatic movement a few years ago.
 
hmmmm.... why can't churches just be churches?

is there a Vineyard around? The ones I have been in are very down to earth, to invite seekers into the congregation.
 
find a good christian church to attend basically we believe come as you are and yes maybe God will use you to catch the holy ghost "IF YOUR WILLING" BUT church is not about that once the preacher preaches the word. Thats your "DAILY" bread its useful for your everyday living. i hope you find a good church home! good luck Hun :) and God bless

I'm not sure where they stand now, but years ago Vineyard churches were some of the biggest supporters of the 'holy laughter revival'. Not sure if you've heard of it or not. It was a very bizarre movement. Maybe they've changed, as its been many years, but i'd still be leery if they fell for something like that once.
 
Visit several churches....try Baptist churches too. My experience with a Charismatic church is that it was all about emotion; but maybe it was just that one church?

I don't see anything wrong with makeup and jewelry as long as it isn't too much.

Are your parents church-goers? Would they care about what church you attend?
 
Look for a church who is FULL gospel believing...that Salvation is earned by accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and savior and not by works,dont worship statue idols
