Hey guys, I just wanna ask you:

what do you think of smoking?

'Cause I'm trying to quit it but I can't. It's an addiction, a strong one and it's hard to hear thousands of warns from my pastor and the youth group. They tried several things to make me stop and I appreciated that but there's something that makes me kinda stronger when I smoke and doesn't make me stop.
I know all kinds of things that smoking will cost me, including cancer.

I just wanna see what do you think of it. :$

Hi Martha, I see this is your first post. Welcomee :)
I really don't know about smoking addiction 'cause I always avoided smoking, but all addictions function in the same way. The more you do it, the more you are addicted and enslaved by it. Maybe this will sound as a cliché answer, but I advice you to let Jesus eliminate your addiction. Ask him to take the burden off of you so you can serve Him better.
I remember a testimony from a friend, who was highly addicted too. He was tired of trying by himself to let his addiction so one day he seriously prayed to Jesus and said " Lord, I give you this addiction, and I will never smoke again". From one day to another, he quit smoking.
Let Jesus take the burden off your shoulders. Have faith, remember who your Father is. ;) NOTHING is impossible for Him.

Hmm. well hear it from someone who smoked two packs a day for about a year. It's pretty much goes against the nature of a human being to inhale burnt matter. Now worse, matter with toxic ingredients in it cause cancer, the matter alone burnt causes cancer. Add to that a poor diet, and maybe alcohol consumption, sleep depravation, stress, and lack of exercise and you are looking for a free pass to cancer.

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit if He has truly come to dwell in you. That means that the creator of the universe through the blood of Christ has made you a temple worthy of abiding in. Now, if you understand the implications that accompany this fact then you should be in awe and in fear. Because God almighty deserves obedience, and deserves to be worshipped for who He is, what He is done and for what He will do for those who have believed in His Son and walk in His spirit that leads to salvation, an eternity with the Father.

From a health standpoint, quit smoking it isn't good for you at all or for those who are around you. Around half a million people die every year in the U.S. due to cancer caused from tobacco smoking. But do it for the glory of God, because He didn't create your body to be nourished by the smoke from cigarettes.

I think it would help to really think hard about how smoking makes you 'feel stronger'. What's going on mentally that is keeping you addicted?

Once you've identified what it is, maybe you can think of substitutes for this.

Hey GBU,
I know it is hard to kick but like you said, it IS an addiction. Jesus wants us addicted to him and him alone. Smoking is a crutch. It builds false confidence and "strength". Like all Satan's tricks, it is a counterfeit of the real strength found in the Holy Spirit and it gives him a stronghold in your life.

The good news? Know the truth and it shall set you free. Recognize it for what it is...SIN. Confess it to God and ask Him to remove the urge. He WILL do it! Get an accountability partner that you can trust and be honest with. God has a plan for your life and He wants you focused on Him. If we are faithful in the small things he will put us over greater things.

You are a precious child of the King and you are special to Him! Allow His strength to flood your being and the urge to smoke will disappear. I'll be praying for you. God Bless!!!

Wow thats great! One thing too about smoking is that it damages the collagen in your skin and you will start to develop wrinkles in your face and around your eyes.

Hi

That's great to hear.

You can also add by doing this every day, saying out aloud, 'I have been delivered and freed from smoking addiction by the power of God and I thank God for his love and healing.'

God bless you!
