What we write on these Christian Forums is read not only by Forum members, but hundreds of visitors read these. They are not being read just this day or week, but they are online for years. A year or so ago I was doing an online search on a biblical matter. I began to read one of the search results, and thought, this sure sounds familiar. When I checked, it was one of my own posts that came up with an answer to a related matter. It is not just those who are reading the Forum today, it can be read for years by Christians and non-Christians alike. I saw somewhere on this Forum where we are warned about this, but I wonder how well we keep it in mind?
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. (Matt 12:36-37)
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. (Eph 4:29)
On the last day, we know we will answer for what we say to others as well as post online.
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— the work of each builder will become visible, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each has done. If what has been built on the foundation survives, the builder will receive a reward. If the work is burned up, the builder will suffer loss; the builder will be saved, but only as through fire. (1Cor 3:11-15)
