Do plants work?

Some scientists want to attribute near human qualities to plants, as if they could think and feel and make decisions. Part of that concept is that plants work. When I'm troubled by an idea being floated that seems contrary to God's ways, I seek God's word on the issue

Where does this end? Will people be charged with murder if they cut down a tree? Will grass no longer be cut because it violates its rights? What does Lord Jesus have to say?

Luke 12:27 & 28
"Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!"

No, plants do not work in the sense that humans work. They do not have a soul. They function according to the amazing mechanisms that God created in them.

After my marriage ended, I was living in a 3 bedroom home. One of the guys who stayed with me was a real livewire. He had all kinds of ideas, which he attributed to God. I gave him permission to take over my garage for a business venture, which was to sell second clothes to Vanuatu. He'd lived there for a while and saw a need.

He bought piles of clothing, plastic drums to pack them in and got the appropriate export and import licences. He sorted into male and female, by size and packed everything. I was working full time and I traveled for work. So I left him to it. He had to get everything fumigated. He worked hard. He left for Vanuatu, full of confidence that he had set up a sales network and that he would make a decent profit.

Except it didn't. It was a complete flop. Did he learn anything? No. Next I heard, he was in Hungary, on some other misadventure.

God does not need us to work for Him. He needs us to be led by Him so that His will gets done. If our works do not originate with God, if they are not empowered by God, it is unacceptable to God. There are many people who are talented and competent who can motivate people to get a project done. Too often, it is a "good" work instead of a "God" work. Sometimes God will bring the work crashing down around the ears of those involved. Others He leaves to be judged in the future.

Works......... If our works do not originate with God, if they are not empowered by God, it is unacceptable to God.

I've heard New Agers talk about creation as having human qualities. When you notice them using terms like "sentient beings" they are diving into the realm of animism.

They might refer to the world as Mother Earth or Mother Nature.
Their hippy artwork will be faces on the moon and the sun.
I say hippy because that's the generation that gave rise to it .
I've heard one teach her class that people turn into stars when they die.

Tree huggers......animists.

Prayers to inanimate objects in nature, like rocks, animals and plants, animists.

Lots of American Indian tribes' religions were animism.

If we claim plants work, we also have to say that a fish works when he is growing that delicious fish steak. Pigs are working to grow bacon and barbecue, and cows are working to grow hamburgers.

I'm pretty sure all of these, if they were able to comprehend the argument, would disagree with it.

Because this thread came in existence with a bit of a different angle from the usual convos in the Bible section and the News section, i was hoping more.

For example we can talk about how the liberals want to put us in jail if we 'kill' an edible plant. But we talk enough about liberal stupidity in the News section.
Then we got the whole 'works' discussion which is discussed for eternity along with Salvation.
There's also the 'science is evil' material in the conspiracy section ... so this leaves us with consciousness.

Nothing in this creation does anything apart from work. Work is basically something moving over a distance due to some force. Water cannot get from the soil to the top of a plant without work.
