It might sound bizarre but it is true!!!! Check out REVELATION 19:16;). Well I think Tattoo and Body piercing wouldn't matter if its of Christian nature!! I know I know some of u r thinking of Leviticus 19:28. But laws are fulfilled by Jesus in the New testament. Its certainly better to Have a tattoo of JESUS IS MY SAVIOR or CHRIST IS THE SOLID ROCK or JOHN 3:16 than of a demon or a naked woman. It might even help us Christians to relate with a Tattooed guy or gal!! Just like Hymns r not popular among everyone so there r Christian Death metal bands. We should have positive deconstruction of our thinking then we will come to love, know and also change a lot of people who r lost!!!

and he hath upon the garment and upon his thigh the name written, 'King of kings, and Lord of lords.

On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

I disagree that any of the above passages signafy a tattoo.

I belive they r ungodly

and i belive it means the writing is on his robe/vesture wich is on his leg/thigh

i highly diagree that god had a tattoo

I strongly doubt that qualifies as a tattoo, but I see nothing wrong with people getting one (people alter their looks by make- up every day, amking it "permanent", so why not a permanent tattoo?)

Just because they modify their looks every day doesn't make it right. I, too don't think God has a tattoo, but yeah, whatever...

Isnt there scripture in Isaiah somewhere saying (from God) I have you tattooed on my hands or something like that? Must find it I know its there somewhere... My brother has quite a few tattoos (none are offensive) and to him they remind him of why he got them - none of which he regrets. I think it depends.. Im still mixed on whether tattoos are bad. How can it be bad if its scripture related and helps the wearer to remember why they love God? I was planning on getting that fish symbol done near my wrist, though not any time soon... Certainly not going to rush into it

Ooh found it!

"See I have you engraved on the palms of my hands, your walls are ever before me." - Isaiah 49:16
Mindyou now that Ive read the whole chapter and trying to find the context. Kind of confusing, is Isaiah speaking or God speaking (through Isaiah)?
Anyway, whoever said this was pointing out that love from God is permanent and they used a tattoo analogy to describe that.

see the key word here is analogy

sorry if that not how u spell it folks :D

my spelling not exactly top notch

well Check what I wrote ppl!! "Well I think Tattoo and Body piercing wouldn't matter if its of Christian nature!!"
"Its certainly better to Have a tattoo of JESUS IS MY SAVIOR or CHRIST IS THE SOLID ROCK or JOHN 3:16 than of a demon or a naked woman."
So its okay to have it if it Glorifies the name of Jesus!! It also helps to relate to ppl. Tell me what is a sin and how tattoo falls in the category of a sin??

im quite sure we can all read thanks.

it might be better to have a tattoo that glorifies christ but i think it would be better to not have one at all.

hey dearest ones, the Lord sets us free...
i would really like it if you could give strong arguments why this one would be any exceptions...
voice out guys...

well Pharisees were rebuked by Jesus cause they took the word of God too literally. God gave us this body " the temple of the holy spirit". If one wants to keep it hundred % holy then they would have to stay naked. We change our day to day looks and fashions. One shouldn't cut hair as well then. But Paul said its disrespectful for a man to keep long hair. So bummer there. We guys have to cut hair(its some where in Corinthians).( Jesus had short hair though. All the paintings r man made). So its necessary to see what the word says. Sometimes it has more to it than what meet the eyes. So check out the references that I gave.

I am personally mixed whether it is or is not sin... as are many.

Kathleen: Is make up also a sin?

Yes, I know it's not permanent, but one still alters ones look to the world....

Ya I am quite certain that God doesn't have a tatoo. And as far as the pharisees taking the Word of God to literal, I don't think that is the case. He was realy hard on the Pharisees because, He said, " Who unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Matthew 23:25-26.See so if the inside of your life is clean it should show on the outside as well. A lot of people think that it means that you can go to the extreem and have all sorts of peircing and tatoo's but that is not being an example of the believers. (1 Timothy 4:12) Pharisees also got after Jesus or his disciples ( I can't remember which) for not washing their hands before they eat. See so every word of the New Testement is important to follow. Its just that the Pharisees had made a lot of rules of their own.

sigh............ I wish Christians were a bit more postmodern without being blind premodern. They hold on to what is explained earlier while it is Written that God's word is too deep for comprehension. Its never ending and new perspectives will always be revealed. Rebuking someone to change or make em' better is for their good but rebuking can also break some one and make em' crumble. Its the way one decides use it. The word of God was even used by Satan to deceive Jesus. He had wisdom so He understood. I pray that God would give us the right words and thoughts about this. personally I dont have a tattoo or any piercing but I think it is not forbidden. Not "Haram" as a bengali person would say. It is a tool that can be used to lift God's name on high if one wishes so.

How is it a vision?? It was a vision in total that John had. But in the vision God a tattoo on his robe and His thigh. please explain more

Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

It has also been supposed that the name was written on his sword which was on his thigh. I think the idea is that with the military cloaks they would flap in the breeze and the name would not always be visible on the cloak, so often they would have their name written " on their thigh" i.e. on their sword as well that hung by the thigh. This idea of a sword on the thigh is supported by Psa 45:3

Psa 45:3 Gird Your sword on Your thigh, O mighty one, with Your glory and Your majesty.

Still, it's symbolic, and part of the vision, it's meant to convey the meaning that Christ is victorious and someone of great importance.

That Jesus does or does not have a tattoo is not really clear, but I'd say not. Tattoos have always been regarded as a pagan practice in Christianity in general over history, imagine the uproar if Christ were ever thought to have one, especially in the time of when Revelations was written, and Judaism has always frowned upon tattoos.

The symbolism is clear when we look at the previous verse:
"And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword"

Obviously there is not actually a literal sword that comes out of Jesus's mouth. I also doubt there is actually and literally any name tattoo'd on Christ's thigh.

but i think it ungodly and wrong ot wear makeup :D

i think if God wanted me to have blue eyelids, thats how he would have made me

if he wanted me to have extra long eyelashes, thats how he would have made me

God wanted me to thave the complexion and looks that i have, and thats the way i see it.
