We never rely on our senses....we could be right or wrong.
But that's why God gave us the manifestation of "discernment of spirits". (1Co 12:10)
You ask God...God will tell you what kind of spirit(s) they are and what to do. If you should cast it out ...or not.

Okay. Then I would suggest that you ask the person directly. There is no way to determine something that happened previously but has been corrected. God doesn’t reveal the past of others where He has already redeemed it.

Yeah, that. God seems to operate on a need-to-know basis with that kind of thing. There's usually no profit in digging up someone's past. Even pastors and prophets don't often know.

I have personally seen (and been grateful) that God can be the master of discretion.

they may have dabbled in occult and unwittingly invited one in

or deliberatley given them rights to enter
some may have been cursed at birth, just as parents can bless, others can curse, unfortunately.
