Do we have any runners in the Christian Community? Just thought i'd start a new thread....
To kick this thing off

How long have you been running?

Do you run competitively or run for fun/wellness?

Favorite racing/event distance?

Favorite running experience/accomplishment?

Personal goals in 2015?

I'm not a professional or anything and I don't run as much as I'd like to. I want it to become more of a habit.

I got interested in running in the 7th grade when track was avalible to those who could try out. ..I was not good..at all. XD But it was still fun.

I don't run just for sport but because it gets my lazy self into shape. Also right after I'm done running that rush of gasping for air and cooling down (even when it feels like I'm going to pass out) feels wonderful to me.

My favourite racing event would be just a simple 100 or 200 sprint on the track. I sorta like relays.

My accomplishments.. I'm not good at running, nothing really big stands out. I'm never one of the fastest people ever but IF I forced myself I can run longer than some others.

Goals, run more, gain strength and speed and start competitions.

1: Been running for eight years this coming March. I started doing track my Junior year in high school just to get better for football, but the tables turned and track was my calling. I still compete both nationally and internationally.

2: I've been competing hard since 2007, with competitive distance I do want to back off in a sense just to enjoy the little things but with track and sprinting I will continue to compete until Jesus comes.

3: My all time favorite bread and butter race is the 400m. But when trained up, the most enjoyable race I like to do is the Half Marathon.

4: Favorite moment was when I got to stand on the podium in South Korea having placed 6th in a 5k out of over 1500 runners. I ran at states in High School twice but was always a hair away from winning a medal, so that victory in South Korea just meant a lot. It was like I closed a chapter of my life that wasn't quite fulfilled three years prior and it was a feeling of accomplishment and relief.

5: Well this year i'll be racing track in the Netherlands at the end of May, also looking to compete in South Korea this October as well. Furthermore I have seven more 5k races to race to hit 100 5k races completed. So yeah, big year or this guy... 2016 is not even a thought yet but would love to get involved in more coaching. For five years I've been personally training adults on the side during my down times but would love to put more of a dominate focus on that. Additionally, last year I helped out a youth track team and enjoyed every minute of it. It's different competitive atmosphere that I have not experienced as a coach, just to watch them grow and be the best that they could be brings more joy and happiness than my own personal endeavors as a runner.

I have been running for a couple of years

I enjoy running but it is also something I have to do to prepare for military training

I haven't done any racing events, but if I did I would like to do a marathon

my favorite accomplishment was getting past several injury's and finally reaching over 15 miles a week

goals for 2015, weekly run mileage at 50 miles, and a 1.5 mile run in under 9 minutes

Which branch are you going into? I'm going to assume Air Force since you mentioned the 1.5...

I plan on joining the Navy.

That's awesome man! I'm over 6 years in the Air Force and it's probably the best decision I have ever made. The Navy is an excellent branch, you get to travel all over the world... If you ever have any questions, I have few friends who are in the Navy, I can ask them and get back to you with answers.
