Why do you ask? Are you going to intervene and take the wife beater out and beat him? Most wife beaters are also adulterers, but there are exceptions. In case the monster is "faithful" what would be the biblical basis for divorce?

No, Jesus gives only one reason for divorce. If she feels she and / or her children are unsafe, she doesn’t have to live with him, but she may not divorce him or marry another until death parts them.

Don't understand this kind of hard hearted legalistic answer!
The bible says husbands are to love their wives as the Christ love the church and gave His life for it. Husbands are to love their wives, not beat them. If he's continually beating her, he's broken the marriage covenant.[/QUOTE)
The Bible says a lot of sins he must not do, yet Christ only lists one of them that may grant divorce. According to this line of thinking, she can divorce him for any sin at all. Sin breaks the spiritual covenant with God, but marriage is a physical covenant- he has to cheat in order to break it. I know, I was in this situation and did much studying on it. You made a vow also to God to be married to this person- which He lets you out of for one reason, and one reason only. Because germ-wise, you have sex with everyone that he does if you have sex with him- that is no longer two people in the marriage.
Regardless of whether he has a certificate of marriage or not, a man who physically harms his wife is not in a Godly marriage, and there in nothing wrong with a civil divorce. If you are the spouse of one who physically harms you, flee now. Seek shelter, and don't look back. God does not expect any Christian to submit to physical abuse.

What does the Bible say about being married to a Non Christian? A man who physically harms his spouse is not a Christian.[/QUOTE)
It says to stay in the marriage, but if your spouse chooses to leave, that you are not bound in that circumstance.
I am fairly confident that Jesus would not expect a defenseless woman to stay with a man or married to a man that beats her....and where is her dad....If my daughter he would get a beat down and If I was too old or weak to do it would hire someone to clean his clock and give him a dose of his own medicine....I have no use for cowardly faux men who beat and abuse women or children....as a matter of fact....my mercy goes out the window with such losers........
