bone of my bone
in concentrated pursuit
errant fluttering monarch
click-and-hum
click... and hum
as round footsteps
through the garden gate.

Stamen and pistil
stalk and stem
the monarch chooses
click-and-hum
click... then hum
the watchers close in
bone of my bone
flesh of my flesh.

Progenitor praying
and watching
watch-and-pray
watch... and pray.
Day to night
Night to day.
No gain from a pain
that won't go away.

Monarch chooses?
Made it this way?
Flesh and bone
the mortal clay -
kinked mortal coil
a twisted helix
click-and-hum,
click... and hum.
watch-and-pray.
