Luke 11:13 Jesus is speaking
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"
We are encouraged to ask in faith as Jesus said and we will receive .
I know I have, and God is no respecter of personals. I am not special or more saved. But I have received the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be a witness.
I can know when the Holy Spirit is telling me to move in His gifts, which include tongues, Healing, Prophesying, and the word of Knowledge. I ask for whatever gift is needed to get the job done.

The idea of different levels of grace, like the concept of different levels of faith, is seen throughout the Bible. Grace and faith both grow and are given by God, but they can manifest in varying degrees depending on one’s relationship with Him and their spiritual maturity.
Different Levels of Faith:
1. Little Faith: Jesus often pointed out the disciples’ “little faith.” For example, in Matthew 8:26 (NIV), He says, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” This implies that faith can start small and needs to grow.
2. Great Faith: Jesus also commended those with “great faith.” For instance, in Matthew 8:10, He praised the Roman centurion, saying, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” This suggests that faith can reach a higher level of trust and belief in God.
3. Faith as a Mustard Seed: Jesus compared faith to a mustard seed in Matthew 17:20 (NIV): “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” Even a small amount of faith, when genuine, can have great power, but the implication is that faith can grow.

1. Saving Grace: Everyone who comes to Christ experiences saving grace, which is offered freely to all believers (Ephesians 2:8-9). This is the grace that brings us into a relationship with God and rescues us from sin.
2. Sufficient Grace: As believers grow, they experience sufficient grace in times of need. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV), God tells Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” This shows that God’s grace is not just for salvation but also for sustaining believers in challenging times.
3. Abounding Grace: Believers can also experience abounding grace as they grow in their walk with God. 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV) says, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” This refers to God pouring out more grace as believers are faithful and trust Him more.
4. Greater Grace: James 4:6 (NIV) mentions that “God gives us more grace,” indicating that there is a continual, increasing measure of grace available to believers as they humble themselves before Him.
Growing in Faith and Grace:
• Just as faith grows through hearing the Word and trusting God in various circumstances (Romans 10:17), grace also increases as we grow in our relationship with God. 2 Peter 3:18 (NIV) encourages believers to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Both grace and faith are divine gifts, but as we pursue God, we can experience them in deeper and greater ways. Humility, obedience, and spiritual growth allow believers to experience more of God’s grace, just as trust and reliance on Him increase our faith.
So in summary, pray to God to increase his Grace and your faith!

The Holy Spirit is portrayed as a beverage.
● John 4:10-14 . . If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for
a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living
water. Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the
water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal
life.
● John 7:37-39 . . If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water
will flow from within him. By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who
believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been
given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
NOTE: "as the Scripture has said" doesn't refer to a specific literal passage,
viz: the Old Testament has a subtle voice that sometimes says things that
can't be quoted.
For example: there is such a thing as the letter of the law and such a thing
as the spirit of the law; which is why we have courts whose responsibility is
to enforce the law's principles rather than carry out only its requirements.
Well; Jesus certainly had a leg up back then because he was able to discern
the Old Testament's principles whereas everybody else was limited to words
and grammar.
For example Jesus' remarks relative to the weekly routine sabbath caught
everyone by surprise because they had always thought of it as a liturgical
requirement; never once suspecting the weekly routine sabbath might also
be a humane provision.

Where in the scripture from Luke do you see one asking for the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit?
As for receiving His indwelling presence, the Apostle Paul taught how one receives it in Acts. The "sanctification" of a saved believer occurs when one or more sanctified believers lays hands on and prays over the one seeking His indwelling presence.
All sanctified believers have "tried."

The Holy Spirit is God’s Gift to give how ever He wants to…

When I was a neophyte back in the early part of the decade of the 1970s, I
ran across the words below embedded in Rom 8:9-16 which say:
"You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if
the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of
Christ, he does not belong to Christ."
Well; those words got me to thinking, to wit: It seemed logical to me that if
someone as significant as the Spirit of Christ were inside my body with me, I
should be able to tell; and seeing as how I was unable to tell, then I had to
assume I wasn't unified with Christ, i.e. he and I were on the outs.
So I contacted a local radio Bible teacher, who was also a senior pastor. He
invited me to his home and when we met, I explained my anxiety relative to
the consequences of not having the Spirit of Christ.
Well; he said-- in so many words --that the Spirit of Christ is supernatural
and as such is something whose presence cannot be detected by one's
natural perception.
Now the ironic thing about this is that Christians are required to seek proof
of Christ in their bodies.
● 2Cor 13:5 . . Examine yourselves, whether you're in the faith; test your
own selves. Don't you know of your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in
you, unless you're all reprobates?
That passage presents a bit of a conundrum because the Spirit of Christ is
supernatural and as such is something whose presence cannot be detected
by one's natural perception.

You don't have to ask anymore. Jesus said that in a time before the Spirit was given. Now He baptizes us in the Spirit when we believe, sealing us until the day of redemption.
John 7:39
But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Some of the Old Testament's personages had God's spirit-- e.g. Samson,
Saul, and David --but they weren't sealed with God's spirit: thus they were
always in danger of losing its abiding presence due to conduct unbecoming.
Although folks unified with Christ are in no danger of losing the Spirit's abiding
presence due to conduct unbecoming; they do risk quenching it. (1Thess 5:19)
