I have mentioned in another post that I have been researching Alzheimer's disease. Before I began, I was unsure of the spelling of the disease.
This is what I have found:
In 2017 a highly respected neurologist and researcher after several decades published a book, The End of Alzheimer's, then in 2020 the book, The End of Alzheimer's Program, the third book in 2021, The First Survivors of Alzheimer's and in 2025, The Ageless Brain. This man is Dr. Dale Bredesen. Anyone who is interested can search Amazon or Barnes & Nobles for any or all of the books. I believe that all four are also available on Audible, Downpour or some of the other audio sites.
In 2012 Dr. Bredesen was contacted by "Patient Zero". At the time she was 67 years old and contemplating suicide after helplessly watching her mother's slow hopeless decline. She was already experiencing cognitive problems when she contacted the doctor.
After contacting Dr. Bredesen, she flew across the country to visit his research facility. After he ran a variety of tests, he was able to discuss a treatment protocol. Being a self-starter, she took control of her recovery and never looked back. Dr. Bredesen is the founder of Apollo Health.
Patient Zero was called Kristin in the first book to protect her privacy. She has since identified herself as Judy Benjamin PhD. She was the founder of an online support group, ApoE4.Info – The Alzheimer's Gene Resource . You can read about the President of the organization at Board of Directors – ApoE4.Info . At the time she was named Julie Gregory, but now she is Judy of Judy Walks Across America . Leaving from San Diego in April 5th (age 80) she is now on the home stretch after crossing the Alabama line into Florida presently walking to St. Augustine. No one had ever survived Alzheimer's before Judy, the third book from Dr. Bredesen, gives the story of seven survivors. Today there are many more.
