I'm not an expert on this subject, but I've attended conferences and spoke at length to experts.
There's reason to believe that story according to the children's testimonies.
There are more recent books and videos, but this documentary is my favorite. It's the most Biblically centered one that I have seen. Dave Hunt (52+ minutes) in particular is the best reference on here. The first part shows old footage of UFOs to establish that these unknowns are real. What they may be is covered around the 47 minute mark forward.
PS: Please disregard the pastor's comments at the end of the video I posted. I can prove he is not correct according to Scriptures.

Hypnosis was only one brief example. Dave Hunt was pointing out that there's a connection between hypnosis regressive technique and the memories of those claiming to be abducted by aliens. They are exactly the same memories expressed to the hypnotherapist.
He explained how they are both demonic.
