I’ve heard tell the world doesn’t revolve around me.
There's a rabbinical teaching on humility which advises that each person carry a note in each pocket. One pocket contains the message, "For my sake, the world was created," and in the other pocket the message, "I am but dust and ashes."
Without tuning in on any further elaboration about that philosophy and applying it to the idea of the world revolving around me, it provides me with a full perspective of the potential of my effect on the world as well as the potential of the world's effect on me, imo.

Hey Zeke, I guess the big question is, what do you think about that :unsure:

As far as advice goes, I think that the best way to be clothed with humility (toward God and toward others) as a believer is to keep your focus on the Lord. We do this by continually growing in the knowledge and understanding of Him and His word, and by making Him part of our lives, 24/7.

I know that it's weird to think that the King of the Universe wants to condescend to know us, personally, but it seems clear that He does (and if you think about it, it's pretty hard to be prideful if He is always there, first and foremost in our minds and hearts, yes!?), and the Lord, through the pen of the Apostle Paul, tells us what to do.

1 Thessalonians 5
16 Rejoice always;
17 pray without ceasing;
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I think that the key to this (to practicing the presence of God in our lives, that is) is to start small by simply remembering Him more and more often throughout the day, and then, when you do, thinking of things or looking for things around you to rejoice in and thank Him for, even the smallest of things. Remember too that we can and should give thanks to Him for EVERYTHING in our lives, both the good and the bad things too, knowing that He is working all of it (the good ~and~ the bad) together for our good :)

Romans 8
28 We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

As pastor/theologian Charles Spurgeon once said, "I've learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of Ages".

God bless you!!

~Deuteronomy
p.s. - here are some additional thoughts from the Scriptures about this, though there are MANY more, of course.

Philippians 2
3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself;
4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others
Galatians 6
9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.
10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
1 Peter 5
5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
7 casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.

I think humility is something that life teaches u and it may take a while .
My moto is : no one is better than me and I am better than no one , it's not just words , I truly believe this because life has taught me this lesson many times . It doesn't matter what u think of yourself , it only matters what God thinks of u . Remember , He sees u , inside and out and He can remember all of your sins ( u will have forgotten many , or maybe not even been aware of some of them ) and He even knows already the sin's u will commit in future . If the fact that God sees all of your sinfullness , all day every day , isn't enough to at least make u blush a little bit 😬 then u still have a long way to go , that's ok , we all start somewhere ❤️ .
