Any thoughts on adults (people in their late 20s, 30s, no kids) who regularly watch cartoons intended for kids (like Disney movies, Pixar movies, etc.)? I want to be non-judgmental but I feel I have outgrown these movies. Not talking about cartoons intended for adults, like Family Guy or South Park, but more cartoon movies and shows intended for kids.

I don't see why it matters at all. Anymore than it matters you've outgrown them. Neither are relevant to anything, ultimately. There are other, more important, things that can reveal details of a persons character.
There are YouTubers i watch. They built their channel from ground level to 7 million+ subscribers, they employ what i'd estimate 20 people, have been generous with the money they've earned as well as renting a small ware house to film in. High quality cameras and editing as well. All with good reputations and haven been public about their faith, despite not being a faith based channel. And the head of this business freely admits to watching Disney animations and such, regularly. Second in charge is a father that watches with his children, but seems to also enjoy them for himself as well.
Doesn't seem to me that their enjoyment of cartoons and animation have given anyone any reason to have anything negative to say about them.

As is typical with people it's often less about making generalizations using insignificant tells and more about each individual.

Could be a coping mechanism after seeing and hearing the news which is mostly garbage. The bad guys generally don't win in the cartoons.

I generally don't but did when my brother was a kid, much younger than me. I have a little niece now so movies with her would be fun.

Mulan was required for a southeast Asian civ course in uni, though we had to watch on our own time. Required since we read the primary source behind the movie.

Artistically more can be done with animation. Sometimes I like unique stuff for that.

Castle in the Sky is one of the best movies of all time

I think it's more nostalgic for some people more than anything. I love Land Before Time bc of that. I can still recite Disney songs.

Also it's nice bc there are not often political messages in them. It's not realistic which makes it ideal if you want out of reality. You don't have to worry about a terrible ending.

I will say there are some really insightful cartoons. The little prince is my favorite cartoon. I wouldn't understand it as a child though with the philosophical and religious aspects.

Now that I have kids I prefer to never watch cartoons though! 🤣

I am 42 and I watch all kinds of cartoons. I don't watch the very young ones, but I watch The Bare Bears, Spongebob, Hilda, Phineas and Ferb, and so on...I also watch Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, and so on...in fact, yesterday I watched Hotel Transylvania for the hundredth time and a few days ago I watched some animated films I hadn't seen yet. I don't think one should tell someone to outgrow things like cartoon watching. I'd rather have someone tell me about the last cartoon or animated film they watched than hearing about Squid Games or other violence porn.

I think theres a lot more scope for the imagination with animation than with real life acting though theres probably things you will pick, up that a child wont if you watch them again. Though watching them at the behest of children is how I ended up seeing all the Disney I had missed out on.

Maybe for the young at heart and yes a happy ending is not unwelcome!

Also for those who grew up with The Simpsons, they were much more about family and had better storylines than the South Park and Family Guy knock offs...I never got into them.
 
I have a few favorites, mainly the cartoons I loved as a child that I don't mind watching once in a while. I like the animated Disney movies from the 1900s. Other than those, I don't have any interest watching modern cartoons. I like the animated characters more than the computerized ones for some reason. The cartoon characters nowadays look too comical and cartoonish, compared to characters in the older Disney movies who looked more human. I may be "old-fashioned" in that regard, the same way some people do not like modern music. Just a few random characters I found online. There are some exceptions like Shrek but generally no.

I know some people who like cartoons, but they are also gamers. There may be a link there somewhere.

If you have kids, you might end up watching these movies. They aren't snooze fests like the old Cinderella or Snow White movies. They usually put jokes and character development in these movies that all ages can appreciate. The Incredibles was entertaining. I watched the second movie with the kids, and they really enjoyed it. It was as good as some of the non-cartoon movies, I thought. It's light entertainment, not Oscar worthy stuff.

Oscar-winning movies can be tedious, boring, stupid, and perverted. I didn't know what was in it and saw Shape of Water-- perverted. I didn't know what 'Moonlight' was about, only that there was a mix-up about the Oscar's. I just saw so many minutes of it and turned it off.. gross...why would I subject myself to that. And I thought La La land was just boring. Two people dancing against a purple background pretty much summed up what the whole movie was like. I don't keep up with the movies these days.

My teen recently introduced me to Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphys Law and, I have to say, they were very well done.

I'm ok with some cartoons, the better made ones actually. No South Park and garbage like that. Interesting thing though, is that it is adults making the cartoons. Actually, I like claymation.
 
I watch a lot of anime. DC movies. Marvel's old X-Men. They may be cartoons but they are adult themed a little. I was always fascinated with Cartoons. DBZ. DBS. FullMetal Alchemist, I watch them all. I like them.

the old ones from the 80's or the newer ones?

I never did see the ones from 80’s, but my kids really like the new ones as do I. I will have to see if I can find the older ones on YouTube

Always figure to each their own. Personally prefer animation without perversion.
 
I had to grow into this cartoon. I'm pretty sure it was no coincidence that it was created, especially for me, 40 years in advance.
