A Boy Goes Along
A Boy goes along
But he does not go a long way
For the way is never clear
He goes one way, then another
But he never draws near
Nearer to that which he hopes to find
The angel of his dream, the girl in his mind
He walked and he walked, with nothing to see
A colorless world, full of hatred and greed
Love is what he wanted, full of color and glee
Love is whom he searched, for she would set him free
Mountains passed ocean, and ocean to sea
Sea to desert, desert to tree
In a very dark forest, he gained a glimmer of faith
"Abandon all... ye who enter here" moaned the wind, an unseen wraith
"This must be the place!" he thought with delight
For he walked everywhere else, with nothing in sight
And never before saw such a wondrous thing
In the distance he saw it, the glimmering light
In that moment, he saw her, the creature so fair
The girl whom he's been searching
He saw her
The answer to his prayer
Dare he not move? Yet he could not
For she was too fair
Fear gripped his weak heart
So he sits. And he stares
Time froze for a moment, an eternity in kind
Gently, Hope mended his heart, and in turn broke his mind
For one moment she was, the next was not there
Into the wind she left, the creature so fair
"WHY!" screamed the Boy, his heart laid bare
"WHY!" he cursed God in vile swear
A Boy goes along

For one moment she was, the next was not there
Into the wind she left, the creature so fair
"WHY!" screamed the Boy, his heart laid bare
"WHY!" he cursed God in vile swear
A dream? An illusion? He does not care
For he has never seen such a thing, a creature so fair
Desperate for what's lost, and for his unanswered prayer
He cried as he sat, and wept without care
Little did he know, Love was enslaved by the Air
For Love was owned by Hope, and Hope does not share
Soon, Boy left this place, and Man he became
Desperate for what's lost, and for his unanswered prayer
He cried as he sat, and wept without care
Little did he know, Love was enslaved by the Air
For Love was owned by Hope, and Hope does not share
Soon, Boy left this place, and Man he became
Grabbed himself tight, and picked himself up from the shame
On the ground were his cards, useless, and all to blame
For Love he lost, such a terrible game
And he thought, “Never again will I search for this girl!”
Away she went. At least he gave it a whirl.
And he quit, and he sunk into a world full of nothing
Numb to the world, and the world to his bluffing
For it knew his heart still searched, though his mind has spoken
For Love had desire to take his heart, even though it was broken
Yet he did not give it freely, and hardly ever at that
And the world gave him naught but his memory to combat
Many years passed, and he found himself back
Back where he started, such a dangerous path
Back to the beginning, and the end of this world
Back where the light fades, and the mind comes unfurled
He was old, decrepit, jaded and worn
Tired, unhappy, saddened and torn
One moment of happiness, one single thread of time
Gone in an instant, gone with his mind
One last time, on the ground, her name he crossed
He prayed for his angel, his Love that he lost
Years it had been since he muttered her name
Years he held hatred for Hope as the blame
Nothing occurred, just the rustling of leaves
Shortness of breath, his heart gave a squeeze
He collapsed to the ground, down on his knees
Death came quickly, darkness to put him at ease
In this moment, his Love had appeared
Shining with beauty, her face smiling with cheer
The Boy stared at her, his eyes wet and smeared
He dared not move, yet to speak he didn't fear
"I searched for you and searched for you"
The Boy cried to her
"I came for you and prayed for you
With never an answer!
I spent every moment I had, every ounce of strength
Every breath, every thought, I went every conceivable length!
All I ask you now, my Love for whom I searched
Why did you forsake me, since the moment of my birth?"
The angel took a pause, then wiped away his tear
She kissed him on the lips, and whispered in his ear
"I never forsook you love, I was always very near
I was always by your side, always with you dear
You know the place. In your heart," she points here.
"The Air held me captive, but I fought to let you see
You glimpsed at what was, and what was to be
I always believed you'd come, I knew your destiny
I appeared to you my love, so you'd also believe in me"
Then the angel lifted him, far into the sky
Higher and higher, she began to fly
Up and up away, beyond the earth and sun
Past the veil of physical, they went to see the Son
A Boy goes along
But he does not go a long way
For the way is very near
He goes one way, then another
Til he sees his Love appear
Eternity they spent, in happiness and glee
Both ate the fruit from the life giving tree
The boy finally knew, he had to die to live with she
And his love was needed, to set his angel, Love, free
Thanks to everyone that actually takes the time to read this. I know it's not perfect, but I tried. Hopefully, some of you will understand some of the symbolism and such. I'm sure I can do better, but I think this is good enough. I guess I'd like to see if anyone reads it first, before I attempt something else. I write a lot, and poetry is always fun to do, but I usually don't show anything I write. I guess I figured, I mine as well start now, right? My fellow Christians won't destroy me too harshly. They will do it gently! Lol, just kidding
