I have been reading Daniel 9 and the 70 weeks.

Verse by verse...
Dan 9:24-27
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Seventy weeks = 70 ×7
Day = years
490 prophetic days
490 years.
Eze 4:6 day for a year.

Determined = cut off (cut off the other time prophecies for the Israel nation) 490 years are cut off for thy people.

Determined upon thy people..
= Jews
And thy holy city... = Jerusalem.

to finish the transgression,
and to make an end of sins,
= to get themselves right, and get the sin out off their nation.
Stop their rebellius acts. Repent.

and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness,
=Jesus the Messiah is the only one to do this by His death and resurrection. This needed to happen within the 70 weeks.

and to seal up the vision and prophecy,
=When Jesus came He confirmed the prophecy and sealed it with His blood.

and to anoint the most Holy.
= anoint Jesus as the saviour and mediator.

Notice it is all about "repent and get ready for the Lord"

Mat 3:1-2 1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

John the Baptist is saying what Daniel was shown needed to happen before the end of the 70th week.

Very interesting keep digging you are on to something

Verse 25
Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem....
This gives a starting point. The command was given after 70 years in captivity.
(Study history. ) 3 commands or decrees were given...
The first decree was given by Cyrus around 539bc.
The second by Darius arund 520bc.
And the third by Artaxerxes 457bc, which granted Ezra authority for spiritual reforms.

The first and second did not restore the Jews as a nation, but the third did.

Ezra 7:13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee....
keep reading and you see that the king even helped them with gifts to reestablish themselves.

Starting point = 457bc

... the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks....

Until the Messiah the Prince must be Jesus.
Shall be 7 weeks, 3 score (3×20) 60 weeks, and 2 weeks. = 69 weeks.
From the start until the Messiah would be 69 weeks...
457bc + 69 prophetic weeks (483 years).
457 + 483 years = the baptism, the anointing. = 27 ac
No zero year.... 1ad then 1ac.... add 1, when going from AD to AC

Messiah = the anointed one
When was Jesus anointed?
By the Holy Spirit at His baptism. Jesus began His ministry.
Joh 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me...

Luk 3:1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, ....
......Luk 3: 21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. 23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.

15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, = When Jesus was baptised, = 27AD
(Herod died in 4bc and Herod was alive when Jesus was born..)

the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
= these things would happen in these years.

Starting point = 457bc
483 years until Jesus is anointed. Makes Himself known as the Messiah.
27 ac but ONE WEEK is left..

Verse 26
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

After 62 weeks shall Jesus be cut off, but not for Himself. (After 7+62) Jesus died

This verse tells of things that would happen after the 62 weeks.

-Jesus Died, not for His sins but for the world's.
-the city Jerusalem was destroyed by Rome, Titus.
-the temple was destroyed and the sanctuary.
-and wars and desolations have been happening continually

Jerusalem was devastated with a flood after the death of Jesus.. exact times are not prophesied but it said after Jesus these things would happen.

Move on to next verse for more details..

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Israel as a nation has 70 weeks, 490 years, to make an end to sin, bring in everlasting righteousness, and anoint the most Holy who is Jesus.

69 weeks has passed with one more week to go, 7 years.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
Rom 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Israel as a nation is blinded in part until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in which is when salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles when they take the mark of the beast.

And so all Israel shall be saved for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Israel will never cease to be a nation for God will always bring them to the truth.

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Rev 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

The last week was postponed until the last 7 years for grace was given for the world until salvation was no longer available to them.

Also because Israel was punished because they did not come to repentance for 70 years so God allowed the Roman Empire to scatter the Hebrews in to the nations as the punishment He told them in the Old Testament if they strayed from the truth for too long.

So the Hebrews were not together for the 70th week to happen which is why there is one more week to go.

The last week is the time God causes all people who do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom that is all about people and there is no God and brings Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Lord and Savior.

The New Age Christ, antichrist, will negotiate peace in the Middle East which will result in a 7 years peace treaty which will start the system of man going against the operation of God.

It will pave the way for all Hebrews to go to Israel for the Gentile nations will cause it to happen for the New Age Christ wants them all back on their land but God means it for good towards the Hebrews.

Jerusalem will be divided with the Palestinians, and the Hebrews will be able to rebuild their 3rd temple which they will go back to animal sacrifices.

The New Age Christ will be considered a great man of peace, and he will push the agenda of the new age which he will think to change times and laws, and thing will change drastically.

When they take the mark of the beast repentance and salvation are no longer available to the world and the fulness of the Gentiles have come in.

The New Age Christ will step in to the Hebrews temple and tell them he is their God and to stop animal sacrifices.

God will send Israel 2 witnesses to turn Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Lord and Savior and at the end of the last three and one half years Israel as a nation will be in the truth and the 70th week will be fulfilled.

The 7 years is over and the wrath of God will be poured upon the world leading up to the battle of Armageddon when Jesus comes back with the saints and defeats the world and saves Israel.

Act 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Eze 39:21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
Eze 39:22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
Eze 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
Eze 39:24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.

Eze 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
Eze 39:26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
Eze 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
Eze 39:28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Eze 39:29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

Jer 46:27 But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
Jer 46:28 Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.

The kingdom on earth will be restored to Israel.

Verse 27
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

And he (Jesus) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: (7 years).
The last week of the 70 week prophecy is Jesus confirming the covenant with many...

He = Jesus, because Jesus is the main character in the context of the verses before. He is the anointed one. And the next sentance makes it even clearer that it is Jesus. Jesus makes the covenant with His blood and there is no Bible verse to indicate that the antichrist or another person makes a covenant to save us.

and in the midst of the week he (Jesus) shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation (offering) to cease,
Middle of the week = 7÷2= 3.5
3 and a half years after the start of Jesus's ministry and He shall cause the sacrifices and oblation to cease..
3 and a half years after His baptism Jesus died on the cross. 31ac. This is when the Jewish offerings and sacrifices became useless.

Mar 15:37-38
37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
The offerings all pointed to Jesus and what He would do. Now that His blood was shed, the sacrifices ceased. Ceased for those that believe in the blood of the covenant of Jesus.
CHRIST died perfectly on time.
Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

But what about the last 3 and a half years.??

34 ac is the end of the 70th week.

and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Israel still had time to get things right the probation would not close until 34 ac. Jesus said to go to house of Israel first. They had 3 and a half years to repent and accept the blood of the covenant of Jesus.

Mat 10:5-7
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

the time was running out for Israel.
Act 2:36-38
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Repent and accept Jesus.. was what the nation needed to do.

But in 34 ac right on time the event that finished 70th week.
Act 7:51-59 KJV 51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: 53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. 54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

Stephen makes a speech.
He declares Christ as the Messiah.
The Jewsish high priest reject the message of truth.
The gospel goes to the Gentiles.

As a nation they didn't accept Jesus and repent.
Their 70 weeks came to an end.

Israel as a nation has 70 weeks, 490 years, to make an end to sin, bring in everlasting righteousness, and anoint the most Holy who is Jesus.

69 weeks has passed with one more week to go, 7 years.

I hear people say the last week is yet to come, they claim that it is seperated from the other 69.

But the bible does not say that.

The 70th week was about Jesus and the covenant that He set up.

Many place the 70th week in the future in order to say Israel 🇮🇱 as a nation is still God's special treasure.

The gosple has gone to the whole world.
Every person in every nation can become a Child of God.

The people of Israel made up the majority of the early church but the nation you belong to has nothing to do with how God will save us.

Jewish people, and nation needs to accept the blood of Jesus and repent. They need to accept the new covenant.

Gal 3:28-29
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

I read that there is a gap between the first 69 weeks and the 70th week so that God can gather His Gentile children throughout the decades. This period of time is called the "Church Age."

Also read that this was a period of time to punish the Jews for rejecting their Messiah. And I see God had done that: He kicked them out of Israel, destroyed Jerusalem and the temple, and dispersed them even farther than before throughout the world. Everywhere the Jews went they were severely persecuted all this time.

So I can see why that gap exists and that God used that time well to work on both the Gentiles and the Jews.

There are prophecies pertaining to the 70th week that haven't come to pass yet.

Daniel 9:7 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

So all we have to do is watch for these events to know when the 70th week is happening.

You're assuming that those 70 weeks is one whole group of weeks. The Bible groups them into three.

Book of Daniel records that there are seven 'sevens' - that's one grouping. Then there's the sixty-two 'sevens' - that another grouping. They occurred one after the other. First the group of seven and then the group of sixty-two.

But the last week is on it's own and has prophecies that hadn't come to pass yet.

It's like taking a series of courses in university/college. You have to complete at least 120 hours to fulfill the average requirements for a bachelors degree.

You don't take the hours consecutively. They get broken down into semesters in groups of average 3 to 4 hours each.

So the seventy sevens shouldn't be viewed as one whole consecutive period of time. I think the grouping of the seven weeks and the sixty-two weeks occurring right after each other throws a lot of people off.

🚞

I have been reading Daniel 9 and the 70 weeks.

Verse by verse...
Dan 9:24-27
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Seventy weeks = 70 ×7
Day = years
490 prophetic days

God is good all the time as good is God all the time, even when one, anyone doe snot see this truth yet, thanks

This topic is already almost covered completely so far! Lot's of good posts.

Keep in mind that the Lord is talking to Israel as a nation in Daniel 9, So that brings us to the parable of the fig tree. The fig tree has always been symbolic of Israel also.

Matthew 24:32-34
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled..../KJV

It's talking about Israel and end times. Israel started putting forth leaves and growing since May 14th 1948 when it became a nation again. This tells us that when that happens that the 70th week is near (Great Tribulation).

This generation wont pass without us seeing these things happen.

History shows that no one believed that the 70 th week was seperated until futurism was invented by Jesuits... the devil is good at changing one point here and there to confuse the people.

The point is ....
Jesus came and in the middle of the 70th week and ended the sacrifices and offerings.
Or.... people are looking for someone else to come and they are not seeing the significance of Jesus in the prophesy.

The prophesy is about Jesus but the devil has made it about the antichrist to come....

Famous figures from early Christianity, such as Julius Africanus, Athanasius, and Tertullian, believed the 70-week prophecy of Daniel 9 was fulfilled in the time of Christ..
Julius Africanus (c. 220 CE):
An early Christian historian who was influential in shaping historical and prophetic understanding for later writers like Eusebius. He believed the 70 weeks had been fulfilled by the time of Christ.
Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 350 CE):
An influential theologian who used the fulfillment of the 70-week prophecy to argue that the Messiah had indeed come, countering the arguments of those who were still looking for a future Messiah.
Tertullian (c. 200 CE):
Known as the "father of Latin Christianity," Tertullian understood the 70 weeks to be completely fulfilled by Christ's coming and the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE.
Other figures like Hippolytus and Origen also engaged with and interpreted Daniel's prophecy, generally concluding that the 70 weeks had reached their fulfillment.

Early Christians could find any biblical reasons to put the 70th week in the future... preachers today need to make many PRESUMPTIONS in order to make it fit.

If Israel as a nation has 70 weeks to make an end of sins, and to anoint the most holy who is Jesus and they have not done that because they are blinded in part then how was the 70th week fulfilled.

At the end of the 70 weeks Israel as a nation has to be in the truth but we see they are not so how is the 70th week fulfilled.

True they have not and did not....

They failed which is sad.

The prophecy did not say that they will do it.. or that it had to be done before the 70th week would end.
The prophecy said they had 70 weeks to do these things and they failed. They did not accept the righteousness of Christ and the Gosple.
As a nation they failed, but the majority of the early church was Jews and then the gosple went to the world.

Gal 3:28-29
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

You're willfully ignoring parts of the Bible and twisting the rest of it.

Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

I'm not going to believe you over God and His word.
