Comment by 'elear' in media 'Happy Pentecost/Commencement'

That's my favourite joke in the Bible.

    why isnt chat app working

I've gone through so many instant messaging programs... ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Skype, and then Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, and so on. I feels a bit sad sometimes to log in, like wandering through an abandoned city.

    why isnt chat app working

Did the one you found seem to be related to this site? I wouldn't expect it because of the generic name, but it could be. There are many Christian communities on Discord. I'm a member of several of them, but I don't usually chat much there.

    why isnt chat app working

Since there is already a website with a forum, there is probably already sufficient hosting to add some kind of chatting capability to the site itself without any additional cost. I like sites to have their own chat functionality internally so that they don't depend on an external program.

Should artificial intelligence be allowed to evolve

I don't see a definition for "artificial intelligence" or "evolve" in the original post (I know others defined the terms later, but I still want to have fun). Yes, I want the artificial intelligence in my games to evolve to become more difficult and challenging. Seriously, though, I envision a...

Is it the ‘end of the world?’ or ‘the end of the age?’

Other people have already basically said this, but if you really want to understand what a verse means, don't bother with an English translation, because the translators have usually inserted their own guesswork and doctrinal positions into the text, as well as chosen a specific word to...

Why has the chat application disappeared from the google store?

I run a Discord "server" for a Minecraft server that I run, with about 130 members. I wrote a bot with a language filter, and I don't find moderation to be that onerous. In fact, recently people have been applying to be moderators, and we (there are two other moderators) keep declining because...

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

I don't find it sad. I suppose it's an unfortunate linguistic fact that any translation detracts from the original -- but it's also positive that each language is unique and conveys information differently. I think those verses don't contradict my point; God's word is pure -- but his word is...

Out of tune with church music

Ironically, I find that much of the time, my church's music doesn't draw me into worship, specifically because it's designed and intended to be emotionally evocative. For example, we recently sang 'Whole Heart'. While the song does include Biblical (true) statements about God, much of the...

Out of tune with church music

What kind of music tends to draw you into worship? Are there any aspects of the music (genres, instrumentation, certain kinds of lyrics...) that you find help you be especially drawn into worship?

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Every translation of the Bible is imperfect because it's impossible to concisely translate everything from one language into another while maintaining the full range of potential meanings, nor to convey the precise meaning from one language to another. Whether it's word-for-word or...

Any other pirates out there? Fighting for the Faith? :)

About 20 or 25 years ago (I think it was around 1997), I even got a reply from Richard Carrier himself in his Internet Infidels site. I hadn't heard of him at the time, but in retrospect, I think it's interesting to have gotten a reply from someone so notable. I can't find it now, but it was...

Any other pirates out there? Fighting for the Faith? :)

I used to debate apologetics online, but I haven't been as interested in it in a while. Maybe it's because the tone of the Internet seems to me to have become more hostile and combative, so conversations are more likely to devolve into insults. Perhaps it's also because of the circuitous...

    why isnt chat app working

Among all the smartphone-based messaging programs I've used, Telegram is probably my favourite, because it's open-source and private, and it's also less resource-intensive to run on a (non-smartphone) computer because it's not based on Electron (that is, it doesn't depend on a bundled web...

Why has the chat application disappeared from the google store?

That's sad. There are multiple possible ways to integrate a chat room with the website. I was researching something called 'Element', which is basically a free and open-source alternative to Discord. I could probably run a chat room for this site based on that and integrate it with the...
