Questions about Matthew 26:28 and Hebrews 9:22 (purpose of Jesus' death, how someone is saved)

Matthew 26:28 (KJV) For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Hebrews 9:22 (KJV) And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Is the correct understanding from these verses that Jesus...

    Reconciling the different resurrection accounts

Just wondering if anyone has a good view on this? This is something I struggle with, reconciling the different resurrection accounts. Matthew 28 and John 20 for instance present two different accounts which are seemingly contradictory. I have trouble harmonizing them or reconciling them, though...

"The chastisement of our peace was upon him"

Is this synonymous with saying Jesus was punished for our sins? Or does chastisement connotate another meaning other than punishment?

Is it enough to just believe in Jesus?

Or must you believe on his name? I read the KJV and have trouble with this. At the end of the Gospel According to John it says that the signs written about are there so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life through his name. The...

    Is there marriage in heaven?

My guess is that there is not marriage in heaven, since there is no marriage in the first resurrection. It would be a little strange to be married in heaven and then not married when the resurrection happens, or inconvenient, I suppose. Maybe there is though?

Do believers die during the first resurrection?

My cursory understanding is that believers do indeed die during the first resurrection. Please correct me if I'm wrong... 1) The first resurrection is a 1,000 year period where believers live and reign with Jesus. 2) This is evidenced by the fact that Jesus said that those that the Father draws...

Can you be baptized by an unbelieving person?

I think it says you cannot enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the spirit, does that mean if it's necessary you can be baptized by an unbelieving person? Let's say the only option for a church was one with people who are unbelieving, can you be baptized by someone there?

Why do Acts 9:7 and Acts 22:9 contradict each other?

I don't understand this... in the KJV there is an apparent contradiction here. The men with Paul hear a voice, and then it says that they don't hear a voice.

What is your favourite Gospel in the Bible?

Mine would be the Gospel According to John.

Could Jesus forgive sins because he is the "Lamb slain from the foundation of the world"?

As it says in Revelation? Or does he just have the authority to do so as the Son of God? Like how come he could do so before he was crucified and raised from the dead?

What role do male Gentile believers play with regards to the 144,000 spoken about in Revelation?

I personally don't know if I am a Jew or Gentile, when I read Revelation though it seems it speaks of 144,000 men who are Jews being sealed I presume as the men who are saved from the world, though in Paul's writing I think it might speak of the full number of the Gentiles coming in, so if this...

    I have believed

I've believed in the Lord Jesus and the Father and the spirit of holiness. I have confidence that I will be in heaven when I die, unless I am caught up to meet the Lord Jesus, I suppose. I have confidence I will be in new Jerusalem after the day of judgment and that I won't be in the lake of fire.

Is it possible for sinners to believe during the first resurrection?

Revelation 20:4-6 KJV (please read in the Holy Bible for further purposes, this is from BibleGateway) 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had...

Help for those dealing with blasphemy against the Holy Ghost

I have struggled with this in the past, but having recently read some of the verses in Mark 3, Matthew 12, and Luke 12 (in the KJV) it has come to me (perhaps by the Holy Ghost striving with me or helping me) that this sin is very likely to have only been committable by those in the presence of...

    Did Jesus ever leave Israel?

If I remember correctly he went to Egypt as a baby with Mary and Joseph (though I might be way wrong here), but did he ever leave Israel after this point or before?

No marriage in the first resurrection, is this prior to living in new Jerusalem forever?

If I'm not mistaken there shall be no more curse in new Jerusalem where those who are saved will live forever. And I think during the first resurrection people will be reigning with Christ for a thousand years and a little bit. Does the language of "the first resurrection" and what I've provided...

What is sexually immoral in marriage?

I'm just going to be blunt. Is everything outside of intercourse sexually immoral in a marriage bed? Please use only Biblical based reasoning (with verses provided) to prove your response. Please no personal opinions. Hebrews 13:4 (KJV) seems to indicate that the marriage bed is undefiled...

Are our sins forgiven when we believe, etc. or do we need to ask?

Romans 3:25 (KJV) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Is this saying our sins are forgiven or that there is remission of them and we still need to ask...

    Resources for salvation

Just some things to read that may help you. The Gospel According to John (KJV) Romans 10:9 (KJV) 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV) I suggest you do your reading from the standard King James Version Holy Bible so you don't read anything that is inauthentic, or badly stylized. Maybe some other...

    Romans 10:9 - Salvation

Romans 10:9 King James Version 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. This is from BibleGateway, I think you should believe through the KJV of the Holy Bible though, since this...
