Predestination essentially means prior to. I don’t think your interpretation of these verses are accurate. Something cannot be predestined by a current or future event. it’s a paradox.

What does repentance mean? Are your sorry that you have sinned against God? Are you in a dire situation and want Gods grace? Are you scared of your inevitable death and where you will end up? Or are you born again by the Spirit which causes a new mind that yearns for the things of God?
