So Hi, Im quite new to Christianity and I don't have any religious family so I thought, i'd ask here.
I absolutely love greek history and, it's a bit weird, but I really wanted some little statues of ancient greek people and gods. But I wasn't sure if it was okay to do that. I don't believe in those gods and i don't pray to them but Im still not sure if its 'acceptable'. It's really only because I like the history and it's not the kind of statues you would buy from spiritual shops, Im talking about real museum/historian shops with no spiritual attachment.
So what do you think?
I can understand people claiming Christianity being intrigued by the advancement of Greek in higher mathematics, science, medicine, philosophy, architecture, and arts.
Or maybe their culture intrigues them the way society operated.
Looking past the war mongering and negative aspect of them.
For I am sure a person claiming Christianity would not say I really like Alexander the Great and his army the way they slaughtered people by the edge of the sword for more dominance.
The world is yours Alexander.
I am sure a Christian would be intrigued with the positive aspect of them.
And the negative aspect they might be intrigued to understand why they did what they did but not approving of it.
And the statues they might look at it the same as the clothes they wore, or their transportation, and other things in their society.
If they do not believe in those gods then they are looking at it differently.
But it could be they have a fleshy desire admiring them even if it is against God's ways.
But I do not understand why a Christian would like Greek that operated contrary to God.
Dan 7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Here is Greece that came after Medo-Persia(Iran).
Upon the back of it four wings of a fowl flew above the other nations in advancement.
Four heads; and dominion was given to it.
When Alexander died the kingdom was divided in to 4 sections with a general ruling each section.
Dan 7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
But Greece did not fly as high as Babylon who flew on eagle's wings for they had the revelation of the Jews God who blessed Babylon greatly.
With king Nebuchadnezzar acknowledging the God of Israel as the greatest God.
And proclaiming if any person says anything against Him they would be cut in pieces and their house made a dunghill.
But the king's son blew it and the eagle's wings were plucked.
Babylon was before Medo-Persia.
Greece known as brass was inferior to Babylon referred to as gold.
Medo-Persia silver.
Even if I was intrigued by a culture according to their positive aspects I would not want a statue of their god or gods.
I would not want any figures whether people, gods, chariots or whatever.
I look at it from the standpoint they were not in compliance with God's ways so I would not care to admire their culture.
There is no nation that did it right but Israel when they were in the truth.
All other nations and kingdoms that acknowledged the God of Israel had heathen ways about them.
Babylon believed in many gods, and are known for human religion, the occult.
America allows all religions to be practiced there including Satanism and the new age that shall deceive the world.
