Sounds like a transmission problem. The old car is 24 years old, it might be just time to get a new one. Which it sounded like you did.
My rule of thumb for car repairs is Jiffy Lube for maintenance and dealership for repairs. Yeah sure the repairs cost more at the dealership, but they ain’t gonna mess with my car, and make stuff up. Well, they at least they know what they’re doing at the dealership.
