Just as an update...

I made it to the store yesterday, and, if there are any nutritionists, dieticians, or passionate health enthusiasts in the audience, please be gentle.

I picked up a sub sandwich (my favorite "junk" food after giving up almost all fast food,) a frozen pizza (which shall be topped with as many mushrooms as it can carry,) a bag of Lay's original potato chips (I've been trying to resist for weeks, but alas,) and two bags of salad mix and assorted vegetables.

After all, isn't this what the experts mean when they talk about having a "balanced" diet?? :p

Said junk food shall be accommodated by frozen fruit and the spinach soup I made last week.

So I definitely don't have to worry about starving anytime soon :D, but these were the only things that sounded good.

And I'd like to think there are some times when eating unhealthy things can be better than not eating at all. ;)

Thank you all so much again! ❤️
Sometimes we need to take a break from our health streaks and just feed the soul. As long as ice cream doesn’t become breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, it never hurts to make a small percentage of our food a treat. lol.

Enjoy!

So good to see you’re feeling better @seoulsearch May you enjoy all your yummy foods and your full force health be restored. I also just had a bag of Lays lol. God will bless you with extra provision to make up for any time that was on hold.

Have a Blessed Day 🩷

Omg this website and it’s so code is so so surprising 🤣

I was writing that the other day and got distracted, lost my train of thought and forgot to come back to the post.

I had no idea it kept that top portion as a draft or to post in junction lol. I was on a whole role because I feel for you as a fellow single who also bears the season’s occasional unpleasantries.

Again happy to hear you’re feeling lively beautiful take care 🩷

I just want to add that garlic is also a natural antibiotic. I take garlic pills although I'm not sure if they work or not. I used to always take the odorless ones but now I question their potency. I recently bought some non-odorless ones and they aren't great smelling, but they sure do aid in digestion whenever I feel bloated. I haven't gotten sick in awhile so I haven't tried them for that yet.

That's great to hear, Lisa!

Here insurances don't work. People don't adhere to that because they never keep their word. May be it works for the rich and influencing, online services are dreaded due to so many scammers. So one just have to deal with it if family or church members can't help. We have the habit of living in communities and families are very close. Someone can give up all to be with a family member in the hospital or they take turns because family members are caregivers here. we don't have paid caregivers as a job here.

so if it's grave one goes home to family

I wanted to answer all the seoulsearch questions because I find them very interesting...I mean WHAT am I supposed to do, adult ALL by myself???

* How do you handle feeding yourself, going to a doctor if needed, keeping up with medication schedules, etc?

Firstly basic going shopping, if I can't get there I might order online and get delivery, or ask someone to drop by with food, but it might be they take the initiative if they know I am unwell. Had people drop food on the doorstep, family visiting bringing food, problem is can't eat it all! Had some anonymous, maybe it was Dad's old workmates, drop a chilly bin of frozen microwavable food at the doorstep and we were eating that for months.
If at hospital, they give you food. Or at least, medicine and water. The doctor comes and sees you, you don't need to go and see them. Nurses come round and do home visits. If need to visit GP, take an uber, or taxi, you can apply for discounted rates.
Medication - blister packs made up are lifesavers, you just take them and they are ordered by day and time. So you just need to pop a blister of pills at the right time. Use an alarm if you need to remind yourself.

* How do you handle the expenses, since there's no one to help pay bills if you miss work?

Apply for income support, doctors usually give you medical certificate that allows you time off. Or ACC claim covers 80% - ACC is Accident Compensation..in NZ if you have an accident you can claim this. Don't need to sue anyone, and it's offered through workplace. Clinics can be ACC approved.

* Do you have medical insurance or find it's too expensive/not worth it? (I know this is a personal question -- please don't feel any obligation to answer.) One of my biggest fears is being of any kind of financial drain to my family, so I try to have measures in place that will hopefully take care of my responsibilities and not place any burden on them.

Yes but dental and eye care are exempt. But I would use public health where I can get it. If things are unobtainable or really long waiting list, then I would go private. Insurance cover, well you can pay it yourself or if you lucky/blessed you may have a family plan. It gets more expensive the older you get. But be sure to claim for everything and keep all your doctor receipts and invoices.

* Do you have anyone you can call for help if you're sick? (Someone to pick things up for you, help watch your kids or pet, etc.)

Yes. Neighbours, friends.

* Are you able to rely on your church for help in these times of need?

Yes but only the people I personally know at church, its not generally the entire church knows all about my medical problems/illnesses. But you can ask people to pray for you, and people do give encouraging scriptures to help you through, even if sometimes it seems like platitudes. If away from church too long some churches do give a phone call but churches generally are not medical clinics/hospitals/counsellors so you can't ask them for that kind of thing. They'll just refer you back to the doctor anyway.
