Some times after a member reads a post, they might like it and decide to leave a reaction to that post,IE thumbs up,thumbs down, red x for disagree and/or so on and so forth

but some members are not reading the post and leaving a negative reaction to every post that they see from a member that they dislike, this probably doesn’t happen that often IDK but for some i know its discouraging to

leave a post knowing that it’s going to be mocked.

I was wondering if it’s possible to have an option in the preferences section to allow others to see the reactions to your post But allow the poster to turn off reactions so that they can’t see reactions that others can see.

IE poster leaves a comment. Person A leaves a negative reaction on the post.Poster gets a notification that someone reacted to post.

Poster sees many more of their post all with negative reactions.Poster places Person A on ignore.

Poster continues to see negative reactions to their post even though Person A is on ignore.

It seems like all reactions except "thumbs up" were removed.
Is this a movement to offend people from Middle Eastern cultures?

"The thumbs-up gesture is considered highly offensive and insulting, equivalent to the middle finger, in parts of the Middle East (Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan), West Africa, Greece, Russia, and Sardinia, where it can signal "up yours!" or a severe challenge, despite its positive meaning in the US and Western cultures."

In all seriousness, I'm wondering why we moved away from the reactions. For me, it was an easy way to show appreciation of someone's post.

The threads about this topic are proliferating like rabbits...

In a different thread admin said they are tinkering with the Forum and reactions will be back soon.

I have always found negative reactions more useful than even positive reactions. If the negative reaction came from somebody whose opinion I usually respect, I look into what I put in that post and why they might have reacted negatively to it. Maybe there's something I need to correct, or apologize for.

If the negative reaction came from somebody who I know is always totally wrong, that is also useful. I know my post was on the right track.

Sounds like the site is going 'woke'. Disappointing for sure.

What thread was that? I had something like 44K reactions accumulated and now I got zip. The icons were a real good feature of this site. It would be great if they were put back along with a few other descriptive icons.

yeah well, but it shouldn't ruin your day. There's a few here, they've been mean to me too but it takes two to tango so I don't put much stock in people like that. So they're sitting at their computer station all red faced. What's that to me? Lol!
