True, and there are passages clearly attributing the idea of blindness being done by Gpd so it's mainly that it has been mistaught a long time
Mainstream thinking in the last few decades has seen a slight shift to attributing sin from man to Satan, the idea of a perfect God allowing humans to choose a condition that eternally separates from Himself seems like its theological anathema to some, for how can a loving God allow any of this if He's in total control and could simply save everyone, their answer! there must be a powerful outside influence that opposes God and thwarted His plan for a perfect sinless creation (well thats how it seems to me how people think )
I also read a few Church's statements of faith, and quite often read how Satan is the author of evil, which in a way is assigning Satan creative powers.
Yet if you can read how God blinds the mind of men, you might be willing to examine and see how it was Gods plan for sin to enter the world, He wanted us to know what sin is, and He wants us to realise it's evil power over us, to taste how destructive it is. So God created the condition for sin knowing that it would come to pass, and Jesus was already planned(foreordained) to come and remedy the result of sin before he even spoke this world into creation. And it also helped illuminate God when he stepped down into this dark world.
Also knowing Im free from sin, yet still a sinner, brings me often on my knees, totally destitute and more receptive to Gods Word and Jesus as the cure.
In my experience those that blame their sin nature on an outside influence, dont seem to see themselves as covered in filth or their need for washing, and funnily enough become more susceptible of falling into some pretty bad conditions.
Not expecting you to agree with me on Satan not being the instigator of the fall, unless that is already your position(im not sure) just hoping you might have a look into it, since you may already see peoples willingness to blame Satan for everything.
This is a massive topic, and I may be going off one of the many side roads. But giving Satan less glory has other benefits besides that it gives God more.
For example to me it contributes to assurance of salvation, I know what I am, I hate what I am, I am at peace with what I am, and am joyous about my sanctification, and position in Christ. Conversely if and when i recognise myself sinning I dont wonder whats wrong with me I dont doubt my position, after all its my fallen nature, I confess and fix it, and give more thanks to Jesus for loving a sinner. I dont try and convince myself Im sinless and blame a demon, which makes me suspect those who see demon activity for sin, might be related to making oneself assured of their salvation.
And I will resist the urge to go into other details
Anyway thanks for the stuff on 2cor 4:4 always enjoy reading and getting additional perspectives.
