Hey Everyone,

Ok. Now that we've raided certain CC member's places for a good meal...

We've finally made it to the finish line! This was my third idea for an "Anti-Personality Test" here in Singles, so let's see how everyone answers. There might be more to this series of "tests" in the future, depending on how things go. :)

Here's the Scenario:

* You've been invited to stay with close friends or family at their house for a week's vacation. What kind of house guest are you?

1. Your Place is My Place -- You arrive in your most casual clothes (ripped concert t-shirt from 20 years back; jeans with enough holes to be comfortable but not obscene,) plop yourself down on their couch, and rip open a bag of Doritos... Just like you would do at home.

2. The Cautious Stranger -- Not wanting to rock any boats, you try your best to stay in the background, tiptoe around everyone, and attempt to "blend in" as if you're not even there. Even better, you just plug in to your electronics and don't have to engage with anyone the entire time.

3. You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone -- This could go two ways. Maybe you didn't want to take this trip and are only there out of obligation, so you make sure your actions are obnoxious enough to ensure you won't have to go again. :) OR, you make yourself so much fun (playing with the kids, laughing and having a great time with everyone,) that your hosts wish you could stay for another week!

4. The Molly Maid -- Again, this could go two ways: at home, you're a bit of a neat freak, and the atmosphere you now find yourself in isn't exactly up to your standards. And so, you start a quest to try to bring things around you a little more up to par. OR, you want to be helpful to your hosts in any way you can -- cooking, cleaning, laundry, watching the kids/pets. Goodness! You don't even do this much work at your own place! But, you're happy knowing that you're helping (OR, do you feel obligated?)

5. The Master -- It's YOUR vacation, and you are the king/queen of the castle. "Hey you, yes you, bring me another beverage -- and the remote control while you're at it!" You don't bother cleaning up after yourself -- someone else will get it, and besides, you're on vacation. After all, if your hosts weren't willing to take good care of you, they shouldn't have asked you in the first place.

6. Any and all other answers! :) Do any of these answers (or a combination of them) fit you? Why or why not?

What kind of house guest can people expect YOU to be?

Thanks to everyone for your honest (and humorous) answers. I've really enjoyed reading people's responses in these threads, and I hope you will, too. :)

I'm the non-existent house guest lol. This might sound terrible of me, but since I'm such a solitary person I'm not keen on staying over at people's houses. There is only one exception, and that is my closest loved one. Which, funnily enough, is where I'm at right now. It's not a vacation though. I'm helping them with many things around their place and spending time with them, I'll certainly be here for more than a week. My next closest loved on is my best friend. I've known her for over two decades and have never stayed over at her house lol. I've visited, of course, but I've never stayed the night. That might change though, since she now lives outta state.

So, I'll have to base my answer on my closest loved one even though it's not a vacation. I would say that it's a combination of 4 and 3. The 3rd 'cause they'll miss my cooking! The 4th one because I'm in charge of the meals and housekeeping and some minor repairs. I was outside yesterday doing a few minor repairs. Brrrr.
There are no kids or pets here, which suits me very much!! I'm in a big city and I miss my critters and my country life while I'm here, but I think it's good for me right now to have a change of pace and scenery. Currently, I'm the Jane of all trades! Honestly, that mostly consists of being a country cook who does redneck repairs

I'd LOVE to tell what kind of house guest seoul is... :p

(Her cousin is named Molly.)

When I arrive as a guest, the first thing I do is get the WIFI password. When hosts haven't a clue what their WIFI password is, in those cases I can often find it on the modem/router. After that I'm pretty passive. I visit when the hosts want to visit, otherwise I'm reading or doing something online, or maybe I'm out jogging. I sometimes offer to do some cooking, depending upon who I'm visiting.

Lol!

My parents raised me to be helpful, so when someone is generous enough to let me crash on their couch (or in their closet, as one friend has a very spacious closet that's almost like a studio apartment,) I look for small ways to pitch in.

My victim, er, strategy of choice, is usually the dishes -- because we all eat and dishes always needed to be washed.

It's also out of habit, because at home, I try to wash whatever's in the sink as it gets dirtied -- or I'll get lazy and pretty soon there'll be a mountain of things to wash, with limited drying space.

Boy oh boy, I never realized how much trouble I would get into or how much of a reputation I would develop because of it!

One family even took turns "standing guard" to make sure I couldn't get to the sink  ; and as Lynx has hinted, I've often been seen as a little OCD.

Lynx IS exaggerating just a bit though, as I usually stick to simple things like dishes and laundry... I won't be cleaning anyone's house! Lol!

Though I did clean one person's bathrooms -- not because they were terrible, but because I was there a while and just saw it as a regular chore that needed to be done.

What can I say. Some mama's cook -- my mama cleans -- and I think she taught me fairly well. :geek:
