My name is Martin and I try to be open-minded about religion, Christianity and the bible. I try to read myself into all this, but I hope I can find a personal exchange on this side. Please do not be offended by my lack of knowledge or maybe stupid question. I want to find out what people see in the bible and if it maybe can help me become a better person. During the last years my moral compass more and more struggles, maybe I can find some advice here.

Welcome aboard CC Erde..

While striving to be a better person is a worthy persuit it is far more important to be saved.. Yes in this life being a better person is better for you and for all who deal with you.. But this life is very short and as nothing compared to eternity.. So Eternal salvation is a far better outcome then being an imporoved person in this life..

Oh and i will quote you a Bible verse from the LORD Jesus that will give you your first little bit of wisdom from your time here in CC..

(Luke 18:18-19) "And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? {19} And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God."

Anyway Erde i am looking forward to your questions.. Take care man..

Welcome Martin. The only stupid question is the one you did not ask. We are here to help. I do not have a church background. I was saved over 50 years ago. I was depressed, suicidal, and suffering the effects of chronic alcohol abuse. Jesus met me in my desperate state and made me a new person. That's way better than than just being an improved person. You can gave that new life too.

Thank you for the advice and reply, I appreciate it. I guess at this point, I am not looking for salvation or to be saved, the concept is too abstract for me. But who knows, what will happen. My eyes and ears are open.

Thank you, Gideon. Your story is very inspiring. I live a relatively good life at this point, but I struggle with morale and the world events of the last years. Maybe I am just growing up.

Undoubtedly you will receive enough advice to cause confusion.
I hope you learn that Christians mean well. Everyone 'sees' things differently.
The nature of God is an extraordinary venture.

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

Also, please check out the Alpha Course.

There are 10 videos total, answering a lot of questions about faith, Christianity historically and in the modern
world, the estate of man, and God's design for humans. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly
.:)

Hi great to have you here at CC with all us believers😊 What I see in the Bible is the story of mankind and the One who created us out of Love. What I see is the answer to everything we to know and with Jesus, an eternal future in glory. Stick around, you'll get it. God bless you and yours always🙏🙌✝✡

You are welcome, and yes, of course you are free to ask me questions and I will answer as much and as well
as I can...I myself went through the Alpha Course just prior to my conversion... so I have very fond memories
of it, and is also one of the reasons why I give it as a resource for new believers and/or people seeking... they
were a help in my own coming-to-believe process, and I was baptized as a new believer at the end of the course.

The Bible really is a wonderful treasure and I love to talk about it , along with many other devoted readers on here 😜 any questions u have about the Bible will fit sure not go unanswered . Best to read one whole book at a time , from either the Old or the New , I've found that the Old is a foreshadow of the New and that a knowledge of it , helps to illuminate the New . I hope u enjoy your journey , I'm remembering the first few times I read it and how I literally devoured it . I still read it every day and after over 30 years , I'm still loving it and being refreshed and enlightened and comforted by it . I hope u will b too 🙏 .

Hi Suze, thank you for your advice I'll keep that in mind. I am at the very beginning and started with the Sermon at the Mount and 1. Mose. A lot of verses I read here I have to translate into German first, but I get the vibe. Even tho I am not sure about faith yet, I am sure that CC is full of great people.
