The gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ is the news that Jesus, the son of God, the Christ (Messias), died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead. Why is this good news? That Jesus died for our sins (our sins were laid on Jesus and Jesus was put to death for them) was buried and rose from the dead is what is called Jesus' name and it is through Jesus' name that we are forgiven and given eternal life.

Acts 10:43 King James Version
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

As this verse says it is that Jesus died for our sins that we are able to be forgiven. God is just and through virtue of his nature deals with sin accordingly and this happened in Jesus with Jesus receiving the total consequence for our sin. Without Jesus dying for our sins we would be unable to be forgiven.

These MAY have led someone to salvation.. but the Bible actually says..

'I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is God, lived sinless and died and rose again.'

Believing on the name of Jesus means to “Accept Christ Jesus as Lord” (as in Acts 16:31, 2Cor. 4:5 & Col. 2:6). The main points of Christian orthodoxy implicit in this statement can be explained or elaborated as follows:

1. There is a/one all-loving and just Lord or God (Deut. 6:4, John 3:16, 2Thes. 1:6), who is both able (2Tim. 1:12) and willing (1Tim. 2:3-4, Ezek. 33:11) to provide all morally accountable human beings salvation or heaven—a wonderful life full of love, joy and peace forever.
2. Human beings are selfish or sinful (Rom. 3:23, 2Tim. 3:2-4, Col. 3:5), miserable (Gal. 5:19-21), and hopeless (Eph. 2:12) or hell-bound at the judgment (Matt. 23:33 & 25:46) when they reject God’s salvation (John 3:18, Rom. 2:5-11).
3. Jesus is God’s Messiah/Christ and incarnate Son, the way that God has chosen (John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31, Phil. 2:9-11) of providing salvation by means of his atoning death on the cross for the payment of the penalty for the sins of humanity (Rom. 3:22-25 & 5:9-11), followed by his resurrection to reign in heaven (1Cor. 15:14-28).
4. Thus, every person who hears the NT Gospel needs to repent and accept God’s justification in Jesus as Christ/Messiah the Lord or Supreme Commander (Luke 2:11, John 14:6, Acts 16:31), which means trying to obey His commandment to love one another (Matt. 22:37-40, John 13:35, Rom. 13:9)—forever (Matt. 10:22, Psa. 113:2).
5. Then God’s Holy Spirit will establish a saving relationship with those who freely accept Him (Rev. 3:20) that will eventually achieve heaven when by means of persevering in learning Truth/God’s Word/sanctification everyone cooperates fully with His will (John 14:6, 17&26, Rom. 8:6-17, Gal. 6:7-9, Eph. 1:13-14, Heb. 10:36, 12:1, Jam. 1:2-4).

I like the way you explain all aspects of the gospel comprehensibly yet with simplicity. I sometimes think of the seed of the gospel as divine DNA which when it comes to completion reproduces the nature of the Father. Having taught children with many genetic defects I am aware of the devastating effects of either adding to or deleting any gene. Children who are born with extra genetic material have damage and dysfunction like those who lack some component.

The bible teaches both actually that we believe in Jesus Christ the son of zgod who died for our sins and was raised up again for our justification ….AND it teaches us to commit our entire lives and selves to him who died for us , tbat we may live for him

You two are talking about different parts of the same doctrine

A lifelong commitment to Jesus isn't salvation itself though. Salvation is a one time event..free gift..not by works.

That's the difference..the point of it. Salvation isn't about our works..our commitment.. it's about Jesus' commitment to us..His sacrifice and payment. That's the point.

i prefer to study the ideas in scripture rather than single verses I think it helps us understand what being taught better

salvation is a promise Jesus made to his disciples that if they continued in tbier faith in him they would be saved . Its a promise that we need to walk in u til the end

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

Salvation comes at the end of faith not the beginning the beginning we receive a promise that if we continue in faith we shall be saved in the end

“receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

have to read more than single verses Paul wrote a lot about grace but no one ever seems to learn much about what grace teaches us and how it saves us

Grace saves us because it teaches us repentance and obedience to the gospel now while we wait for Christ Jesus promise of salvation

If we believe one verse why not the other thousand ?

Because salvation and service are separated from each other.

Justification for eternal life isn't dependent on faithful service.

We are to be faithful..but faithfulness doesn't bring conversion. Jesus's gift to us does.

So ya we are to die to self..deny ungodly lusts. But that's not conversion..that's a closer walk with Jesus.
