Hi hi hi everybody, I've recently just lost my mum who died peacefully at the age of 85.

We often had chats about christ and on many occasions we would test each others knowledge with a quiz.

She was also quite whitty, she would say things like well I don't know what bible you've been reading when I would give a silly answer.

Joyce was a lovely women she never complained despite suffering ill health for a year or so.

She died peacefully surrounded by her family holding her hand.

She was very loved by all and We spent the whole day with her after she passed before she was taken away.

We felt as if she was only pretending to be a sleep many times, as we felt strongly there was something still with her.

Her back was still warm still five hours later.

The whole thing got to people asking questions.

One of the question ask was will Joyce be awake in the place she will go to.

How long will Joyce be in her body before she leaves her body.

I have ideas and answer but I'm unsure how accurate they are.

My knowledge has me believing the spirit stays with the body for 3 days so loved ones cam say goodbye and for some other reason before transcending to a special place until the return of the lord.

But my knowledge also says for the scripture says for those who have fallen asleep in the lord will be raised first does or could not necessarily mean they are permanently asleep.

I'm wondering if it could also mean when they fell asleep in the lord it means when people have passed way.

Thanks in advance for any advice, I'm very strong in my belief of God so I'm also finding it easy to cope with my loss knowing Joyce is at peace.🤞🙏😊

John 11:16

and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Welcome to CC
Thankyou So much you know I said this exact thing to my family. 😊

But then they said well fallen asleep does not mean dying as well, they wanted to know how long she will be asleep for.

And so I said in the Body Jesus was put to death, but in the spirit he was raised to life.

But then I was asked well that was Jesus,

So I said well no once you believe Jesus is lord and saviour, and other things you're also born in spirit and raised to life.

So my family said your spirit is made alive in Christ but some of theses scripture could mean your spirit falls to sleep also.

Well I said no because there is also scripture where Jesus went and preached to the disobedient who had been naughty before the days of Noah's flood. 😊.

But I've been searching for more scripture, and answer to find them, as my younger brother Isaac is having a hard time believing.

I'm hoping I can give him some more answers,

And thanks @Bingo @Magenta
@Gideon300 for your support and welcome it's lovely to meet you all, in the lord blessings.and peace to you

None of us are meant long for this world, but it sounds like your mother lived the full number of her years with the people she loved.

Making little to no complaint in suffering is a hallmark of a spiritually mature Christian. She must have negotiated her way through the final year of her life with the confident conviction and solid assurance of what she was being prepared for according to God's promise.

I am sorry for your family's loss, but you know your mother has passed from death to life.

Precious friend, @Jordon, condolences on your loss; some years ago, my mother, Joyce, also passed on to God's Great Gloryland at the age of 92. Here's is my study on the subject:

Confusion of what death is...

Hope this helps...

Amen.

Welcome, Jordan.

As I understand it, upon the death of a person's body, if they are saved their soul/spirit goes to heaven where they await the Rapture when they will receive new bodies. It's our bodies that die, not us. If a person is not saved, their soul/spirit goes to Sheol to await judgment. Following judgment the unsaved will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing in your Intro, welcome to CC! My first thought is this 'The phrase "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" is a statement from 2 Corinthians 5:8, suggesting that believers, upon death, are immediately in the presence of God, rather than remaining in a disembodied state. Along with the other's info you have a lot of good words to ponder. Glad the Lord led you here. God bless & keep you🙏✝✡🙌

Hi tabi, blessings to you,

My attention has now been drawn to various other scriptures, I dont think they've been discussed as of yet.

I was praying for a while to, I do wonder if it's possible to be joined in prayer with loved ones who have passed in the spirit.

As I hear that people alive can be joined in prayer even tho there in separate locations, but so far I have not found anything biblical to back this belief up.

I've been reading a whole lot of scripture lately, and I was pondering on scripture about How God gives advice on comforting the grieving,

I wonder about this, my heart says God would want you to say Goodbye to your loss properly, to feel as if they are there with you.

But then the thought crosses my mind that surely God would not want you just being saying Goodbye to death ?. As in an empty vessel.

Then my mind was immediately drawn to Jesus who said tonight you will join me in paradise ?.

Why Jesus say tonight ? I believe Jesus would of knew knew his death was imminent and well before night time,

This Got me wondering that if it was immediately, maybe the thief died to on the in the night ?

Sorry for my concerns

Blessing and peace in the lord .

Be a person Gay or straight.

There is one that gets right up my nose and that is a person manipulating scripture.

Such a person should be removed from church.

Because when a leader of a church manipulates the scriptures and leads people astray that is far from ok.

If a volunteer gives people advice on scripture also, if he or she isn't fully grown in the lord they really should seek advice before giving it.

We are punished justly, for we are receiving what our actions deserve. But this man has done
nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”
And Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Luke 23
verses 41 to 43. Paradise was not heaven, but the side of Sheol (holding place of the dead)
where the righteous went, also known as Abraham's bosom.

Hi Thanks I know about this place.

Sorry my grief has hit me hard at the moment I'm finding really hard to come to terms with my loss now, as I've just learned negligence has happend yesterday. Concerning my mum.

So I really can't think straight about what I wanted to mention about this scripture at the moment, I did have some else of value to say about this scripture.

Bye

Further to my last reply my mum's funeral is now taking place at Windermere st Mary's church of England on the 7th April 11am. Anyone is welcome.

Out family our now happy no negligence has taken place.

Further more I've since had time to reflect.

It's seems that paradise and heaven are associated as two different places.

I was reflecting on this and I feel that it doesn't matter I feel that paradise will be a special place just like heaven where people talk and walk and talk with God

I've also been reading beliefs from Christianity concerning the after life that Christians are asleep in this place untill they are raised when the lord return difficult to believe,

For Jesus said to the thief tonight you will join me in paradise.

I see this gesture as something you would say to someone on the bases as tonight you will see me in paradise.

I couldn't imagine me or Jesus saying tonight you will join me in paradise but you won't know because you will be asleep.

Also sorry for the miss typo my mum was 82 not 85, all the indications are now and cause of death is simply end of life.

Thanks again for all your support.
Bye bye 😊.
