Hey Everyone!
I was in a local store over a week ago and noticed... They're almost out of Valentine candy.
To which, I can only have this kind of reaction:
Why?
Because when you're a single, the best thing to look forward to on Valentine's Day is all the half-price candy the next day! And it looks like this year, I'm going to be seriously missing out.
I've worked in several different stores over the years and unless it's changed, for smaller holidays like Valentine's and Easter, they'll get their entire shipment at once. Sometimes, this is enough to fill their designated space -- so once it's all out, there won't be anymore. Sometimes there might be extra in the back, and if it's a big holiday like Christmas or Halloween, they might get extra reinforcements, but not for Everyone's Favorite Day to Remind You That You Are Single (unless things have changed or it's different in other stores.)
Therefore, it looks like my chances of scoring reduced-priced goodies are literally flying right out the heart-shaped window!
I was seriously looking forward to:
1. Reese's Miniatures Peanut Butter Cups (but ONLY the miniatures!) They have JUST the right chocolate to PB ratio, unlike the other sizes/shapes.)
2. M&M's, peanut and plain, but I'll try almost any flavor.
3. Brach's cinnamon jelly hearts -- they're only available for V-day, and they MUST be Brach's! Any other brand is simply inferior and not worth the money, even at 1/2 price!!
Now of course -- I need candy like I need a hole in my head or a second butt (which all that candy just might give me.) But it's nice to look forward to SOMETHING on these Hallmark holidays, especially since I've been trying to limit myself to ONLY buying candy if it's on sale after a holiday.
How about you?
* Any favorites you're hoping to snag at a deal?
* The infamous heart boxes?
* A new stuffed friend?
* Housewares or decorations?
* Jewelry, flowers, or candles?
Personally, I wouldn't mind snagging some colorful 1/2 off kitchen towels and a new soap dispenser (and I'm sure it would be a lot better for me than any candy!)
* What about everyone else?
* Do you have something special in mind treat yourself with (if it's still there!!) the day after we're all Made Aware of How Single We Are?
(Married friends are welcome to answer too! Do you and your spouse get each other anything for the infamous V-Day?)
