Would you slow dance to your spouse or crush to a hymn? Or maybe you do or have?

Like for me, I love to dance. I don't listen to worldly music outside of oldies or 90s country on occasion. I could see myself slow dancing to a nice slow hymn. How about you?

As someone who loves to dance so much that God led me to a job teaching ballet, I can dance to most anything. I don't know that I would single slow hymns out, but I probably wouldn't turn it off if Amazing Grace or similar popped up while I was dancing.

If I was listening to a hymn with a woman, then it would be for the purpose of worshipping or praising God together, and not as something to dance to.

When it comes to dancing, some sort of love song (that wasn't perverted) would be my choice.

Couldn't you do both? If we are to be equally yoked with Christ and each other, couldn't both worship together while dancing? And Im not talking like break dancing, I'm mean just holding each other while swaying. I could, heck I'd even sing ..... Not that I'm a good singer lol.

That's tricky. I think romantic and sexual feelings could get in the way of worship.

I get your point, which is a valid one, and I anticipated this type of response from somebody. Sure, one could, but I personally would not feel comfortable doing it. Would it be wrong to do it? No, I wouldn't say that, but I am just giving you my own honest answer.

Quite frankly, or to be totally honest, I've never really been one for public worship. Not because I am ashamed of Christ, but rather because I get distracted easily. I like to worship or praise God with my eyes closed, and with my heart and soul solely fixed upon him. Again, that is just me. I am certainly not trying to set a precedent for anybody else.

Thank you for your honesty. I understand what you are saying as well. Thank you for your input.

Well that's one way of feeling equally yoked, if you can dance slow to a hymn and feel God's presence, Hallelujah🙌 That may be a match😂

You're welcome, but none of this really applies to me anyway. In other words, in order to get a woman to dance with me, I would first have to lasso her as she attempted to run away from me, and then I would have to hogtie her. With both of her hands and feet bound, how much slow dancing could we do? Sure, we could probably do "The Worm," but I don't think that constitutes as slow dancing in anybody's book. :p

You and me both brother. The women run giving the flash a run for his money. Although the thought of two people slow dancing while one is hogtied is pretty funny lol

I asked one woman who came to my home to slow dance with me, and she said "Sure. Just let me use the powder room first." My home surveillance system captured what happened next.

Funny thing. I don't even remember having any powder in that room...

This is such an interesting thought.

I have to confess though, it automatically kicked in my old Lutheran school programming...

I have to admit that I think I'd be slightly afraid of trying to slow dance to a hymn -- out of fear that I might automatically be struck down by lightning on the spot.

It's not that they taught that dancing was wrong, but rather, it seemed to be heavily implied that certain things just don't mix. And come to think of it, our Lutheran schools didn't hold dances. (Prom was called "Junior/Senior Banquet" -- I guess they thought the generic name somehow made it less worldly -- and was the only dance our schools ever had.)

For me, it would be like saying it's ok for to set out a pepper shaker with a sugar shaker instead of salt.

I'd be open-minded, but it would go against everything I was used to about hymns.

But even in the Bible it talks about dancing, look at David. He danced in worship and praise. The Lord also says there is a time for certain things and dancing is even mentioned. I don't think there would be anything wrong with slow dancing to a hymn.

Excellent point.

I was thinking about the fact that David "danced with all his might before the Lord" -- and God punished Saul's daughter Michal (one of David's wives) with barrenness when she criticized him.

I believe it is possible. In fact, my most cherished conversations or moments, is when Christian music is playing in the background. Not sure about hymns though, I'm sure there are a few.
