A little light hearted discussion wasn't sure if this was the place but here it is.. The bible gives us some guidelines such as the prohibition of full blown crossdressing, homosexuality and a few basics, however so much is labeled by society, some of which doesn't correspond to anything in the bible I know of. I comprised a sample list taken from reddit of things someone deemed "feminine", how many do you agree with or wish to debunk some are pretty ridiculous. I omitted the more lewd and/or inappropriate ones.

1. Using skincare products
2. Using fancy soaps.
3. picking and arranging flowers.
4. sewing and crotchet.
5. romantic tv
6. the color purple
7. long baths
8. matching the color of your clothes.
9. sharing "feelings"
10.hugging
11. clothes shopping
12. sitting with legs crossed.
13. blended cocktails
14. cooking
15. liking cute things
16. color pink
17. leg shaving
18. wearing a cross-shoulder bag(glorified purse)
19. wearing tights/hose
20. wearing skirt(be they made for men or not)
21. crying
22. being kind, gentle, and compassionate.

The ridiculous list goes on but this is enough to get started, the last one to my mind sounds suspiciously like someone demonizing men for showing some of the fruits of the spirit. discuss, enjoy.

If I told any of my bros I was going to take a long bath, shave my legs, and share my feelings...
they would come straight over and smack me around till I was well.

.
And hold on to your man card for awhile.

Seriously though, it's a valid topic. I used to think that being a "good Christian woman" meant cooking, cleaning, and having no opinions. Then I realized that those things aren't actually in the Bible, they're just accepted culture in some churches.

Jacob used his cooking skills to buy Esaus' birthright. Jesus cooked food for the disciples. Jesus also told Martha that her place was not in the kitchen, she should have been learning from Him with the men. And Prov. 31 woman was a total boss babe.

I know that women were created to help men, but are there any verses that say exactly what that must look like for every woman? 🤔

Actually, that’s a misunderstanding of a poor translation. The Hebrew words translated “helper” are used elsewhere for God Himself. :)
Oh I know, "Ezer Kenegdo", I believe..... literally puts womens' help in the realm of Gods' help, which is mind-boggling, humbling, and slightly terrifying! 😜

So yes of course, when viewed in that light, being helpers doesn't make us inferior. But my point is more that modern churchianity tends to put women's "help" in a box and reduce it down to simple domestic chores, yet the Bible doesn't specifically say that... I think the closest you could come would be Prov. 31, but she also owned her own business, appraised and purchased land (didn't even know women could do that back then!), and kept things running smoothly in her husbands absence so he wouldn't need to bring back war spoil. So definitely not a fragile timid little thing who was helpless without a man there telling her what to do 😉.

I know you already know that Dino, I'm just explaining my point... and maaaayyybe trying to bait a chauvinist or two 😇😜😏

I've been guilty of all the bold-faced ones at some point in time, and I am anything but feminine.

When it comes to crying, in scripture, people like Jesus, David, Jeremiah, Peter, Paul, and John cried or wept, so this idea that "big boys don't cry" is biblically unfounded.
But my point is more that modern churchianity tends to put women's "help" in a box and reduce it down to simple domestic chores, yet the Bible doesn't specifically say that... The most popularly used domestic chores verse is probably this one.

Tit 2:1
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
Tit 2:2
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Tit 2:3
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Tit 2:4
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
Tit 2:5
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Although I believe that being keepers at home includes much more than domestic chores, that does seem to be a valid part of it.

That's a good verse, though it does seem to be referring to ladies who are married. I realize most women fell into that category at the time, but what about those who don't?

Are you asking specifically in relation to being keepers at home? If so, then, as I said previously, I believe that keepers at home pertains to a lot more than just domestic chores. It also has some bearing on things like child-rearing, which, again, would pertain to married women.

As far a domestic chores are concerned, I would hope that everyone cleans up after themselves; whether men or women. Anyhow, I do not believe that women are precluded from working and providing for themselves financially which is probably what you are asking. Jesus' own earthly ministry was financed in part by women, and, seemingly, some of them, like Mary Magdalene, were unmarried.

Luk 8:1
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
Luk 8:2
And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
Luk 8:3
And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

At least one of these same women watched Jesus' crucifixion from afar off.

Mar 15:40
There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
Mar 15:41
(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

Where did the unmarried women among them get their substance by which they ministered unto Jesus? It is quite possible/probable that at least some of them worked to support themselves, so I do not believe that God wants unmarried women sitting around and gathering dust while dusting furniture all day long at home.

However you interpret these remember that being effeminate as a guy is a sin.
you can only find that in one translation, and it's almost certainly talking about some form of homosexuality. What's effeminate to one may not be to another.

Proverbs 31:10-31

10 [a] How hard it is to find the perfect wife.[b]
She is worth far more than jewels.
11 Her husband depends on her.
He will never be poor.
12 She does good for her husband all her life.
She never causes him trouble.
13 She is always gathering wool and flax[c]
and enjoys making things with her hands.
14 She is like a ship from a faraway place.
She brings home food from everywhere.
15 She wakes up early in the morning,
cooks food for her family, and gives the servants their share.
16 She looks at land and buys it.
She uses the money she has earned and plants a vineyard.
17 She works very hard.
She is strong and able to do all her work.
18 She works late into the night
to make sure her business earns a profit.
19 She makes her own thread
and weaves her own cloth.
20 She always gives to the poor
and helps those who need it.
21 She does not worry about her family when it snows.
She has given them all good, warm clothes.
22 She makes sheets and spreads for the beds,
and she wears clothes of fine linen.
23 Her husband is a respected member of the city council,
where he meets with the other leaders.
24 She makes clothes and belts
and sells them to the merchants.
25 She is a strong person,[d] and people respect her.
She looks to the future with confidence.
26 She speaks with wisdom
and teaches others to be loving and kind.
27 She oversees the care of her house.
She is never lazy.
28 Her children say good things about her.
Her husband brags about her and says,
29 “There are many good women,
but you are the best.”
30 Grace and beauty can fool you,
but a woman who respects the Lord should be praised.
31 Give her the reward she deserves.
Praise her in public for what she has done.

notice verse 25, I wonder what the empowered women haters would say about that?
