How has life been treating y'all lately?
Mine is at a crossroads, but I don't know what the street names are yet. If past is precedent, I will soon be on one of them. Right now I seem to be in park. But that's good. I need to idle for a bit.

The suspense is killing me though...

For the last few years my life has been taking care of Grandma in her final ones. Before that I spent a few years where my life was a whole lot of things I did around the church.

Each phase of my life has closed out naturally before the next one started. The things I did around church were naturally closed out as the programs shifted - we don't do the puppet or sign team anymore, somebody else does bus driving, we no longer have a church bulletin, etc. All the things I did were supplanted by other forms that other people did. So by the time I needed to take care of Grandma, I was free to do so. I didn't leave a big hole in the church.

Now that Grandma has died, I am more than a bit curious what my next phase will be. Will I find the love of my life and get married? Will my brother with mental problems take a turn for the worse and I will need to move back to East Tennessee to supervise him? Both? Something entirely different?

Whatever comes, I hope it will be something that I can look back on at the end of it and say, "I am glad I spent that time doing that thing."

In the meantime my electric bike conversion with a power tool battery was a great success. My laptop is running well. The TV grandma used to watch sits in the corner, sad and neglected. My dog is getting old but he still jumps and bucks like a sunfish crossed with a bronco when it's breakfast time. I found two really good swivel office chairs, manager style chairs, at the auction house for dirt cheap. I have plenty of food, way too much sugar around this house that keeps calling to me, functional plumbing and electricity.

And I can't think of a single thing I want somebody to get me for Christmas. So I guess life must be pretty good. If you can't think of what you want for Christmas, you must already have everything you need.

Sounds like the future is calling... we just don't know the tune.
