DAILY DEVOTION (12/12/2024)
THIS IS THE FATE OF FOLLOWING HUMAN TRENDS (Gen 6:12-13)
God looked at the world and saw that it was evil, for the people were all living evil lives. [13] God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to all people. I will destroy them completely, because the world is full of their violent deeds.
(True story).
One day, I sat in a place having bought a mango 🥭. As it was being peeled, a part of it accidentally fell on ground. Before it could be picked and trashed, a family of around 2 house flies came on the piece that was on ground and began sucking. Before I could look aside, they had become 8 or 9.They were disgusting to me and I picked small board and hit them altogether with the mango piece. There lay their carcasses with the mango piece. I gave a sigh of relief hoping that I had got rid of the problem. In a second or so, I was surprised to see another group of houseflies land on top of their relative's dead bodies and I thought that they weren't going to remain since their loved ones are dead. I thought they are going to know what has killed their friends and take off. Oops! I was deceived.
You needed to see how this second group jumped up and down on top of their friend's dead bodies fighting to suck in the pulp. They were around 10 this time and I picked again the board and hit this second group also. There they lay also with the first group and the mango pulp. I was now satisfied and said to myself that it was over. In a second, a third group joined in, landed on the mango pulp with the corpses of the two groups and began sucking the mango pulp minus asking selves what had killed the first two groups. They cared less about the death of the two groups. The mango pulp seemed to be so sweet enough to blind them from the disaster their friends had suffered. I smashed the third group also. From here, I knew it was useless to keep hoping that the next group will learn and they trashed the mango pulp and the housefly carcasses away.
From the scripture above, it's not spoken direct but the very point that is spoken about is moral trend.
The people in the time of Noah had adopted a common moral trend which everyone both men and women upheld and followed. There's only one man and his family by the names of Noah who refused to adopt to the general moral trend of the people of his time. He refused the trend because he was a believer in God and what the people had adopted in his day was against the culture of his God.
Because of refusing to trend with the public, Noah without doubt suffered loneliness, hatred and abuse from the people of his day who baptized him many names such as proud, old school and many more.
The human reward of his separation from their disgusting moral trend was insults and hatred. However, someone else from another realm was pleased with him and had already planned to reward him.
God sent a flood that wiped out every living being on earth except Noah and his family who refused to adopt to the moral trend of that day.
We live at a time like that of Noah. We are creatures that like corporate trend. We like adopting to fashion trends, eat the same meals, build the same design, drive same type of cars and achieve same degrees 🎓. It is this desire to be, have and look like others that has led many, turning into scammers, murderers and liars. Some because of wanting to be like others, have pushed aside the blessings God had given them in search of what's more. Wives have abandoned their husbands and husbands devorced their wives craving for what's trending. It's absurd that today, a man devorces his wife over a dress color. A woman devorces her husband because his car is an old model.
We are living at a time of flesh infested men and women. People are only going with what's trending no matter what it costs.
It is this very reason that when disaster comes, it doesn't take a handful of individuals but a crowd of them. When you decide to be unique and not trend in our time, you will be treated exactly like Noah was treated. You will be called old school, proud and not social among many names.you will loose friends that don't support your separation and will experience loneliness at some time. The good news however is that you aren't alone. Jesus says am with you always even to the end of the age. It is better to be alone with God that being in a company of men whose moral trend defies the will of God. Brethren, your relationship with God should come in the first place before anything else. Anything that tries to defile your relationship with God wants to destroy your life.
In order to keep our relationship with God alive, we will have to look aside from much trendy.
We will at some point experience loneliness, hatred and insults. If you aren't ready to be hated by men, you aren't ready to please God. Your life is being bargained by the trending morals of our day. You must make up your mind to be unique and welcome only that which doesn't bring issues in your relationship with God.
