Saint Anastasia

How great is God in life of saint Anastasía!
Whose heroism defeated vicious pride of Ulpian.
Praiseworthy is her Needy’s Care with friend Theodotía,
As well as Christian martyrdom by will of Diocletian.

You blossomed up as balmy, florid lily
In desert land of heathen and immoral hedonism.
You treated wounds of prisoners with Godly pity,
Rejecting heartless morals of immoral paganism.

Being raised in faith by Fausta, your mother,
You honored God and walked the Way of piety.
Being grounded in the Truth by Theognostos like no other,
You’ve betrothed yourself to holy Way by keeping your virginity.

Arrested for your Christian profession by the soldiers,
You were interrogated and then threatened by the cunning Ulpian.
He offered life of luxury or else the pain of tortures,
But quickly perished as a mad, so cruel and authoritarian.

So holy Jesus saved virginity of yours from the dishonor
And you were blessed with freedom for a tiny time.
Your whole inheritance you spent as charitable donor,
With healing art relieving martyrs of the pain and grime.

Being caught once again, imprisoned for starvation,
You were consoled by visions of the martyred Theodote.
And after sixty days of hunger, thirst and depravation,
You were condemned to sinking in the sea by boat.

God glorified Himself with miracle of intervention,
And all the hundred twenty men believed in the Anointed One.
Saint Theodote had steered the boat in right direction,
So all received the martyr’s crown, confessing publicly Eternal One.

Among them all you were likewise as well as Euthychianós.
With boldness you rejected idol-worshipper’s command,
But evil and those godless ones respected not your nos,
Cause Savior’s name of Love and Truth no demon can withstand.

You sing with angels and the saints now never-ending HalleluJah.
To friends of God the death and pain will come again no more.
Enthroned with Jesus, you are blessed, forever praising Holy Jahwe.
To God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost be praise forevermore.
